[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The island of Madeira harbours only a few butterflies species, currently 16.
Among them is a species of the Sayrinae genus Hipparchia which is considered an endemic species of the small island:

Hipparchia maderensis.
Family: Nymphalidae / subfamily: Satyrinae

Interestingly, the poor butterfly faunas of the Azores include even 3 Hipparchia endemics (H. azorina, H. occidentalis and H. miguelenesis) and the Canary Islands also one (H. wyssii) which, however, belongs to another subgenus in relation to the other above mentioned species.

Location
Madeira, close to the summit of Pico Ruivo at about 1800 m.

Hello Peter,
this is really exciting. not only the butterfly is so well represented in lively patterns, sharpness and clarity. But also the diagonal composition of the rock-line.
Splendid blurry background gives a powerful visual view too.
very well thought and excellent composition.

regards,
Foozi

Lieber Peter,

Peter
