Ponta de São Lourenço is one of the last nearly untouched places in Europe. Located in the eastern part of the island, this is the place where a fantastic combination of rocks, sea and nature created one of Mother Nature’s masterpieces.

You can climb up the rocks and see very little evidence of man’s changes to the island. There are excellent views over both the northern and southern sides of the island and, when the weather conditions allow it, also on Porto Santo Island.

Hi Isabel,

What a beautiful rugged coastline you have and you chose a really nice composition to show it. I think this image could use a little more contrast in the background cliffs and less contrast in the sky. It is hard to expose a scene like this correctly because there is such uneven contrasting light...bright sky and cliffs in shadow. Some people even out the exosure on the computer by selecting the different areas and adjusting the contrast individually. Some people used a neutral density graduated filter in the field for shots like this. I did a quick workshop to see what could be done. It is still a very nice image as it is, except that the clouds are burned out. I think there is still enough information in them that the computer could restore them somewhat.

Yeahh!! Great landscape. Perfect composition.

Portugal is a wonderful land. I leave my heart there.
Very nice landscape.
Brava Isabel. Maurizio

Hi Isabel,
very pretty landscape shot from beautiful Madeira.
Delightful colour contrasts of reddish hues, green and chilly blue.
Wild scenery, very well composed.
Thanks, and best regards,

Hello Isabel, very nice landscape. This particular shot reminds me so much on the walk up to that point where you took the shot. It a longer walk than most people expect. I remember doing so on a very hot day and did not take much with me. Just wished i had carried a lot of water with me at the time. Watching the sunset from up there is also great. As well as watching the sea hot the sides when the weather is at its worse.

Thanks for bringing back some memories. I hope to visit the family there maybe this year. Might just make another excursion to that point, as there are also some levadas near Camacha that I did not get the time to do.

Good angle of shot and nice to see that coastaline agai. Looks like its collapasing a little more ......

Nice work

Hi Isabel,
Excellent seascape photo with a good POV. The DOF and light are super. I do agree with Evelynn, and like what she has done in her Workshop. I could really recommend the ND grad filter for the reason she mentioned. I recently bought one, and the result is well seen.

Preciosa imagen Isabel.

Saludos

beautiful landscape, TFS Ori
