Hello fellow Trekkers,

I would like to dedicate this picture to all TN members and to the administrators of the TN website ! This is my Easter greeting for all of you, who, with your critiques, comments, workshops, etc, helped me improve my photographic skills and made this website a special place! I wish you all "Happy Easter"!

Photo Info

Yesterday when I left work I thought I'd have a walk in the nearby forest and take some shots of the Easter Bunny to post it on TN! Unfortunately there was no Easter Rabbit there but I found the Easter Robin :) Actually it was a pair of robins! They kept chasing each other with great speed so I considered myself lucky to get a few good shots. I must say that a long lens is a HUUUUGE advantage! With my 200 mm lens it is almost impossible to get a decent picture.
The weather was fine, slightly windy, occasionally small clouds would temporarily cover the sun. As I said before, the picture was taken in a forest located at the NW base of a mountain, which means lighting conditions were not ideal. I was lucky to spot this fellow partially in the sunlight. I hope you like it!

Robin (Erithacus rubecula)

Description

The Robin is undoubtedly one of Britain's most dearly loved birds. It is instantly recognizable due to the rusty-red breast; indeed, 'Robin redbreast' and simply 'redbreast' are well-known alternative names. The sexes are very similar, but juveniles lack the red breast and are mottled with browns and buffs. The robin is one of the few birds to sing throughout the winter; its melodious, liquid song is a further feature that has endeared this species to the public. A short 'tick' call is also produced.

Range

Widely distributed throughout Britain, with the exception of islands and the higher hills of Scotland. It also occurs throughout much of Europe, reaching as far east as central Siberia, as well as parts of North Africa and Turkey.

Habitat

Occurs in a range of habitats, but typically requires the presence of both dense vegetation and open areas. It breeds in woodlands, gardens, forest edges, parks, and even city centers.

Biology

Although the robin has been recorded feeding on a very wide range of food, the majority of the diet consists of invertebrates, soft fruit and seeds. As most of the food is taken from the ground, snowfall can cause huge numbers of deaths.

Salut Edi

Horia

Hi Eddie,
Happy Easter! A really well composed and framed photo. Beautiful light and a spot on exposure. This has rendered beautiful colors and sharp detail in the plumage. A very well controled DOF has a perfect complimentary OOF backround. Looks great!

Hello Eddie,
I really like those birds and our American Robin is not as nice as this one I think :-) This is a question of taste but I really prefer European Robins. This is an excellent capture of this cute fellow. Don't worry about the rabbit, its makes a beautiful Easter Robin, lol. This is a very good composition with superb exposure and colors. Details are very good too and I like the colors of this background a lot. This light in its eye is wonderful. This is a lovely one. Thanks,
Claudine

Hi Eddie,
Beautiful photo of the robin with very natural colors. Nice detail. Well exposed. Excellent composition and good DOF. I like the peaceful and content pose of the bird and the eye contact.

Hello Eddie,
that beam of sunrays from behind touching the robin's chest makes it stand out in fiery red from a scenery of soft green shades in a cute, self assertive pose - wonderful presentation of atmospherical depth and beauty, well composed.
Thank you!
With best regards,
Peter

The way you have the cross branch diagonal is a nice feature.
This bird is sitting light that seems rather perfect for your shot.
Bringing out the colour and a hint of catch light works well. Great depth of Field, thought at this F stop I am baffled how it blurred so much.
