[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It was the day we had the first snow. Sun was shining but temperature was well below zero. I was walking on the alley of the zoo.

Some young fir trees, making a kind of living fence, were boarding the alley. At several steps, in front of me, under the trees something has moved. Despite the sunny weather under the tree shadow was dark. Moreover the dead leaves gathered there made the scene even darker. In order to show the camouflage I decided not to use the flash.

Looking carefully I saw a female blackbird. She was observing people passing by at no more than a step. I kept on walking slowly raising my camera. The bird obviously saw me and fallowed my moves without moving.

It was very hard to focus as the colors of the plumage were blending so well with the colors of dark-brawn leaves around. I think bird knew that camouflage was perfect and she is hard to spot. She was so confident in its camouflage that she did not move even when I was at less than two steps. I took the photo and moved slowly back. The bird did not leave its hiding place.

I decided to post the photo, not because it’s technical quality, but because it shows well the camouflage. I found also interesting bird’s behaviour.

Hello Cristian,
A female Blackbird skulking in the shadows of winter and a fine capture of her. Though she was captured with some sharpness she blends well with her BG of dead leaves and she shows a nice eye contact.
TFS this fine image,
Have a good weekend,

Hello Cristian,
This is just how you see the Blackbirds and the Robins in our garden, half-hidden under a shrub! In spite of the poor light you managed to get a brilliant capture. Great focus on the eye and fine colours and details. Well done!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hello Cristian, very nice capture, it's very sharp, the colors are natural and the overal quality is very good, well done my friend!

Hello Cristian

Wonderful detail and sharpness of this little bird despite it's dark hiding place.
The plumage shows well.
Very good eye detail, the colours look natural.
Well composed in the frame.

Hello Cristian,

Very good picture of this female blackbird. I like very much the composition, luminosity and colours. Great sharpness too.

Wow! I had to do some searching..Do you think it was being stealth for your presence or is it a shy bird as many are...yet you were able to pull it out of its hiding....Your very personal notes are very much appreciated!
