Hi again,

Sorry about being a bit absent from TN lately...work started really hard now and, to be honest, in the little free time that i have i've decided to go out and test my new lens - the Sigma 150mm f/2.8 Macro.
As it happens, my first post with my first 100% Macro lens is a landscape...a focus actually on some beautiful beech in the last moments of sunlight.

I'm very happy with this new lens and i think it's great value for the money (i managed to find a company that brings them directly from Japan to Romania by ship and so the lens was just as cheap as buying it from the US...only with the bonus of a warranty in my own country) and among other things i'm pleased that it has the same front thread as my wide zoom lens - the Sigma 17-70mm - and so i can fit all my filters to it. Hence, here i could use my circular polarizer to increase the saturation and retain the lovely tones of the setting sun on these mosaic tree trunks.

Hope you'll like it and thanks for visiting ;)

hi horia

What a way to buy your lens, by ship? How long is the 'shipment'? But Sigma105mm is a nice piece of glass and sharp. For the f/2.8 macro it will be very useful for most application of wildlife shooting. This 1s exposure at f/16 looks like low contrast due to light but the resolution looks good. The flattened effect is there for the tele.

tfs, bill

Hi Horia,
as I see you also made a walk through the forrest - we did this too today.
Your shot is beautiful, I like the light and the different colours of the old leaves.
Thanks and greetings

Hello Horia.

Nice picture of this forrest. With the sigma 150mm you can make good pictures of landscapes and also of portraits. But i think the most fun you can have with that lens are the macro's.
Looking forward to your future pictures with this lens.

Hi Horia. Like this one a lot. The straight lines of the large trees covered in lichen. and the deep line in the bark. With the brown colours coming from the beach leaves. good colours all round . Looks like a painting. well done TFS.

Not very often do I get to add a tree bark to my theme..and it among my favorites...but not as well appreciated by the majority...I lived in the woods most of my life so perhaps that is hwy I like this type of image so much.

hello Horia!
a good play of natural texture of winter time
well seen...

Hi Horia!

Simple but great idea. I like this colorfull composition with trees, lichens and dry leaves. Congratulations, Sigma 150 is very good lens, I read many reviews on net. I was going to buy one, but in Poland it costs still about 1000$

Hi Horia. Firsly thanks a lot for your kind words on my 1st Year shot. Secondly, i really like this kind of look and your attention to details in nature!
TFS. Have a wonderful Sunday!

Hello Horia,
Very simple but successful it is...
Nicely composed with natural colors. A lot of DOF!
Very good presentation.
I have the same Sigma but I hardly used it. Should use it more apparently...
Very delicate image in all its simplicity.
Well done

Hi Horia

This is a lovely creative shot from your new lens. Nice to see a different use for a macro lens. It has certainly captured the details and textures of the tree. The light and winter colours are wonderful as well

originala compozitia. oricum e bine ca i-ai gasit de lucru obiectivului in perioada de iarna. eu am apucat sa fotografiez insecte cu el doar primele 2 sapt. deocamdata nu am apucat sa postez decat o poza facuta cu el.

Hi Horia!

Congratulations for this first picture with the new lens! If you continue like that, you will do a lot of marvellous pictures with it. The first try already is a success, although it is difficult to judge the full capacity and quality of a lens through pictures on TN. The fact is that I like the effect created by these vertical lines and the colours are very seasonal.

Kind regards

Hello Horia,
I love this kind of environment: the tall oak tree trunks stretching up while there is a whealth of lichen life on their barks. You caught this atmosphere well with with your new macro lens, the lighting, sharpness and colours being first class and the composition faultless.
A fine image to delight us with and I look forward to seeing the macro performance of your lens!
Best wishes,

Hi Horia,
This one goes to the abstract nature theme. I love the soft and hazy look of the scenery and love how you composed photo. it really has a winter feel to it whitout seeing snow or ice. Maybe adding a little more sharpness on the FG tree and cropping a little from the right would do good.

P.S. Now I am looking forward to some amazing macro's with that wonderful new lens.

Hello Horia,
wondeful capture with your new lens, lovely texturfes, beautiful colors, superb sharpness, depth of field and clarity, well done.

Enjoy your new lens
