I just came back from an almost 3 week trip to Romania. Here is the first photo taken during this period. You can see also a picture taken by Michal (cedryk) here. Another important thing associated with this trip is that we spend few days together with Horia (horia) so there was an another TN meting in the real life ;-) For details please see the note to this photo and the additional image posted by Michal here

Neptis rivularis
Family: Nymphalidae
Subfamily: Limenitidinae

Wingspan: 44-54mm
Catterpillar host plant: Spiraea salicifolia
Habitat:deciduous and mixed forests
Similar species: N. sappho

The common names of many species and genera of Limenitidinae reference military ranks or – namely the Adoliadini – titles of nobility (e.g., count, duke, earl, and marquis), in reference to these butterflies' large size, bold pattern and dashing flight. In particular, the light stripe running lengthwise across the wings of many Limenitidini has reminded earlier authors of officers' (e.g. admiral, commander, commodore) shoulder marks and epaulets.

Hi Krzysztof

Glad to hear you've arrived ok and that you had a nice holiday and trip to my country, too. I hope you're leg is all healed by now and that you'll be safe next time :)
This is a great capture from you and a very well taken macro of this beautiful butterfly. I really like the shallow DOF here and the way it isolates the subject from the BG - there's a clear definition of the contour of the wings which is a great aspect.
Very good sharpness and exposure, too.

Cheers, TFS and, again, thanks for the great time

Hello Krzysztof,
Though this Neptis species is a little worn you have taken a fine shot of it resting with the wings open. The sharpness and natural colours with the OOF contrasting natural Bg are great. The composition might have been better with a little more space to the right but that is a matter of opinion!
Nice that you and Cedryk could meet our TN friend Horia!
Thanks and have a good weekend,

Hello Krzysztof,
Impressive details of this beautiful butterfly. The composition is perfect, with diagonal position and beautiful managemnet of light. Impressive to see how this Neptis is different with wings opened and close. TFS. Have a nice Sunday,

Hello Krzysztof,
Ipressive work with the DOF, congratulations!, I like a lot the beatiful BG, some hard but very attractive, very suitable for this perfectly focused butterfly. I Think this a shot same "yeva naked view". Well done, have a nice week.

Hello Krzysztof,

TFS and have a nice week/day!

Hi Krzysztof
Neptis rivularis is a very pretty butterfly. It was recorded firstly from Turkiye, in last year. But I cant see it yet. you are lucky to see this beauty and captured with such nice shot. great details and coloration. nicely composed and captured from great POV. TFS. well done

Bonsoir Krzysztof
Belle prise de vue, beau spécimen,
Bravo, merci et ŕ bientot

Hi Krzysztof,
this is one of the truly stunning butterfly shots on TN. The main effect stems from the range of flowerbuds that develop a diagonal perspective. But then the particular species not often seen on TN that opens exceptionally the wings completely, that is a treat! And you did it with a compact camera to boot. Thanks for this one!
best regards
