The Danube Delta is the second largest river delta in Europe, after the Volga Delta, and is the best preserved on the continent.

The greater part of the Danube Delta lies in Romania, while its northern part, on the left bank of the Chilia arm, is situated in Ukraine.

Its approximate surface area is 4,152 km2 (1,603 sq mi), of which 3,446 km2 (1,331 sq mi) is in Romania.

Situated on major migratory routes, and providing adequate conditions for nesting and hatching, the Danube Delta is a magnet for birds from six major ecoregions of the world, including the Mongolian, Arctic and Siberian. There are over 320 species of birds found in the delta during summer,of which 166 are hatching species and 159 are migratory. Over one million individual birds (swans, wild ducks, coots, etc.) winter here.

Thank you, Marius, for sharing with us the spirit of the Danube Delta materialized in this poetic photo, which takes us back to a world where humans did not exist or were but still submitted to the sacred laws of wildlife. I'm so glad you had this beautiful experience.

Hello Marius,
I love this time of the morning when the fog is still low on the water. Everything is quite except for a few birds stirring in the distance and perhaps a fish splashing in the shallows. Nicely composed image with a beautiful tinted sky as a BG. I can feel the coolness of the early morning air in my face.

I like this photo a lot more than the one of yours I recently commented. Beautiful morning atmosphere and color tones, and the foreground size is just optimal. Pleasant composition with the "smoking" river, the silhouettes of the trees and pink of the sky. Congratulations! However, I don't fully understand why you state Timisoara as the photo location, meanwhile that city is very far from the Danube delta?
