Cheers again!

I'm back from a short trip in the mountains and the first thing i want to say is a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!! to all TN and TN-ers :) (better late than never)

This time, a very cute ampfibian: the Spotted Salamander or Fire Salamander as some people call it.

Scientific name: Salamandra salamandra
genus: Salamandra
family: Salamandridae
class: Caudata (Urodela)

The European fire salamander is a very cute terrestrial amphibian that inhabits mainly deciduous and mixed, sometimes conifer forests.
The spotted coloration of this salamander seems to play two roles: cryptic, when the spots on black background allow the animal to hide on the forest floor, where there are alternate spots of sun and shadow, and aposematic, where bright spots indicate poisonous skin secretions.

Hope you like it :)

PP: crop, sharpen, adjusted levels and contrast, reduced noise.

Hi Horia,
I think I must be the only person who didn't know it was TN's birthday :-) Great shot and excellent title, it fits the image perfectly. It was worth the effort of crawling around on the ground to get that excellent POV. It's an unusual animal, I've never seen one close-up before. It has a face like a frog. Great detail in the shot, good DOF and not a hint of noise. A well captured and well presented image. Great work!
Cheers,
Adrian

Hello Horia,
Excellent headshot with a very nice low POV.
Very good detail, color, exposure, and well framed. Great results handheld at 1/40th.
Very well done.

Hi Horia,
Curious look yellow-spot salamander. Superbly captured. Excellent shot.

Hi Bogdan!
Excellent work! This beautifull amphibian looks very nice and wet :-) Great POV and colours, interesting note. These poor animals were chased during Middle Ages beacuse people thought that they could start fire, they're messengers of Satan, etc. Salamandra is on top of my wishlist, but I've never seen it in wild.

Hello Horia,
Lovely shot! The POV is superb, makes this creature look strangely cute. I like the framing and colours too.
VERY WELL DONE!

Hallo Horia,

Superb photo of this colorful salamander! The composition is great! Colors are natural and make a nice contrast. Sharpness is excellent. I can almost feel the moisture of the salamander's skin. And the textures, they are so perfect! Nice DOF too! Great job! Thanks!

Regards,
Eddie

Hello to you too :-) Nice to meet you my coloured fellow!

Great shot Hoira! What a pov here, so cloooose also, this should be friendly one to you. With your pov, dof is great too also. Great moment it seems you shot him just before its another step! Is it dangerous for people its poisonous skin, although i'm sure i don't want to eat him, you know its my fellow :-)

Hermoso primer plano de esta salamandra Horia.
El colorido sumado a la nitidez de la cabeza del anfibio conforman una excelente captura.

Beautiful close up of this salamander Horia.
The colorful one added to the clearness of the head of the amphibian conforms an excellent capture.

I like this POV very much Horia!
It's really a great moment.
Congratulations.

Extraordinary colours, nice crisp focus. One of the problems with images of wet creatures and plants is the reflection off the skin. I have toned that down by some gentle cloning and burning. You should give it a try.
John

A nose-to-nose view of this beautifully colored salamander is wonderful. The detail and POV are great and the leaves give us a sense of his world. Well done.

Hi Horia,
I looks like he's just been painted. More specific an oil painting. No that I suspect you from 'something' of course:-)
Well done pic...

Great Shot and great picture

exelente foto Horia, é fantastico sem comentario, parabéns.

"Hello :)" indeed! Oh , I wish I had seen this one before!

Do I see the reflection of Horia the photographer, slithering on his belly, making friends with this beauty??? A dual cameo?

I'm beginning to worry Horia... perhaps you need to do some "toe to toe" ... ;) It is so much easier THAN on the belly!

I think this is a GREAT shot, esp. the PoV. You have the important part < the head > in focus, making it a pleasure to behold! And the look on its face to boot!!!
Well done Horia... < KEEP SLITHERING ;) >

Nice and sharp details, and I like the DOF to show emphasis on the salamanders face. Colors are nice and not overly saturated. Very nice portrait.
