Emerald Waters.

With spring turning into summer in quick steps in central Europe, going back a few weeks in time, and going up into the mountains may recall some of the volatile beauties of spring.

Looking east from the small town of Bovec into the Julian Alps and Triglavski Narodni Park, you may catch a glimpse of the natural beauties of Slovenia, a small Alpine country with a wide variety of undisturbed habitats, housing a great biodiversity.

The river:
"... Soča (in Slovenian) or Isonzo (in Italian) is a 140 km long river that flows through Western Slovenia and North-Eastern Italy. An Alpine river in character, its source lies in the Trenta valley in the Julian Alps of Slovenia at around 1100 metres of altitude. The river runs past Slovenia's highest peak, Triglav (2864 m) before heading south past the towns of Bovec, Kobarid (Caporetto), Tolmin, Nova Gorica and Gorizia, entering the Adriatic Sea close to the Italian town of Monfalcone. (...) Some people in Slovenia call the river "the Emerald Beauty" because of its emerald green waters. It is said to be one of the rare rivers in the world which retain such a colour throughout their length." - Wikipedia

Hello Peter,
What a beautiful scene you have captured in this fine landscape, great work Peter.

A wonderful and atmospheric photo. Lovely....

Hi Peter,
A wonderful photo taken in a beautiful location of a country with stunning vistas. Do you know the name of this river, because it could be that I fished in this one.
Your composition is very good, where the river leads me into the photo toward the wonderful mountains. Along the way I pick up some of the first facts that spring has arrived. It is a pity that it was a hazy day otherwise you would have gotton more detaisl in the mountains.

Hallo Peter,

Hi Peter,
Great angle, very nicely composed picture.
Nice natural colors.

Hi, dear Peter.
What a nice place you have pictured. So impressive POV and perfect details/sharpness of the image. I am impressed with richness of lights and shadows, various nice colours, combination of sharp and blurred parts of the picture, transparent and misty areas of the view. Composition of the shot is amazing too. Perfect introduction into beauty of your places. Bravo and best wishes,

This is a lovely change from your butterflies. Nice to see a variety in a portfolio (if you don't mind my saying).
Superb PoV, wonderful gentle cool spring colours. I wonder how this looks at this hot time of year?

Dear Peter, you really put me into a squeeze, if I have to decide which scenery is more breath taking ie. your image or Emerald Lake in Canada :-)

I heard only a few days ago in " the Antique roadshow" that emeralds come in every shade, including yellow. They valued that one at £ 35.000

Therefore I am rescued from this dilemma of having to make a choice and declare, both are breath taking, "your river Isonzo" as well as Emerald Lake in Canada.

The forbidding steep slopes in your photo together with the stark colours of the forest make it an interesting photo, highlighted by the Emeral River

I add your work with the informative notes to my theme " high altitude"
Thanks for sharing, good night from South Africa
