Cobaea scandens, also known as Cup and Saucer plant is a vigorous climber introduced into Europe from Mexico in 1787. It is named after a Jesuit missionary and naturalist, Bernardo Cobo (1572-1659).
In cooler climates it is treated as an annual. The vine grows to 20ft. (6m) .
My Cup and Saucer plant is growing all over an ancient olive tree in my garden, it has been producing flowers most of the summer. The flowers are about 3" or 7cm across. |
