| The Summit Natural Park, Circus and Lagoons Peñalara, commonly known as Peñalara Nature Reserve is a protected natural area of 768 hectares located in the heart of the Sierra de Guadarrama (sierra belonging to the Central System). Also located on the southeast side Peñalara peak (2,428 m) in the municipality of Rascafría and northwest of Madrid (Spain). This natural area is home Peñalara peak, the highest of the Sierra de Guadarrama, three small cirques, two moraines and a number of gaps, all of glacial origin. The site was declared a Natural Park on June 15, 1990 by the Government of the Community of Madrid. |
