A praying mantis, or praying mantid, is the common name for an insect of the order Mantodea. Often mistakenly spelled preying mantis (a tempting mistake, as they are notoriously predatory) they are in fact named for the typical "prayer-like" stance. The word mantis derives from the Greek word mantis for prophet or fortune teller. The preferred pluralization is mantids,[1] though there is some usage of mantes or mantises.

Like all insects, a praying mantis has a head atop the body, an abdomen housing vital organs at the other end, and in between, the thorax. Mantids use their specialized forelegs to capture prey and can be found in a wide variety of colors, patterns, sizes, and shapes.

What a splendid shot of this mantis!
The pose in which you've captured it is simply fantastic and it's practically posing for you...like a model! :)
The DOF is purely impeccable...perfect! It kepps all the subject is full-focus and wit hrazor-sharp details while blurring the BG superbly!
The lighting is also great and due to that all the colors are lovely and very saturated!
All-in-all: a gorgeous result!

Que buena esta foto de la amantis, yo nunca consegui retratar una pero tampoco ni habia visto una araña Napoleon hasta que vi una que publicaste y este domingo pasado no lo podia ceer cuando la tenia delante, otra cosa sera conseguir que la foto se pueda ver.
