[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The hymenocalis is a delicate flower of the lilly familly.
I called it white star before I knew the name, just because it has the allures of a star and the shape of a star in the sky.
This one was photographed in the park of Arucas. Arucas was once a whealthy little town at the times of sugar cane production used to make rum. There are no more sugar cane plantations (cheaper from the caribic) but they still produce some rum. They have a Marquis (noble title like a Duke or Baron) and he has nice gardens, open to the public...

The file was quite big and I had to resize it twice, I hope the quality is not too poor now.
Thanks for looking and enjoy your weekend.

Hello, Karin -
Striking photograph, with beautiful details, color and clarity. If resizing affected the quality at all, it is impossible to tell. Well done.

Hi Karen,
Co-incidentally I was looking at your lily photo when you commented on my woodpecker photo. That is a very nice photo, beautiful composition and I love the lighting. I like to photograph flowers and especially water lilies. I will post some of them soon. Thank you.

Hello Karin. This is quite common in my country but I never knew the name. Thanks for sharing this one with useful notes. Yes, the flower looks fragile but the stamens are very intricate. I like the way you placed it in a frame. Good light and details against the pleasant green background and contrasting well with the white flower. Well done and have a wonderful weekend. Regards, Jusni.

Karin,
Such a delicate and elegant flower, velvety white, does it have a fragrant? I imaging it to be very refreshing. You did such a wonderful job showcasing it. Great detail with rich green tone background which contrasts the white beautifully, but the white is not overly contrast or exposed, so much of the details are still intact. Composition is really good.

Hi Karin!

The "White Star" is a good name for that wonderful and delicate flower. You have put it very well on stage and managed to express its delicateness at its real expression. The nicely blurred background helps to highlight the sharpness and richness of the details.

Congratulations, a very beautiful photo!

Kind regards

Markus

Salut, Karin.
I was at the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers this past weekend, and I saw this very same flower. I tried to take a picture of it because I found it so fascinating. We seem to connect through the plants we see... in opposite parts of the world. : )
Excellent sharpness and exposure on the white petals.
Great handling of the DOF.
Hope all is well with you.
Merci pour le partage.

Hello Karin
What a magnificent capture of the star lily. Great shape, focus and composition. The 4 orange pollen points are a wonderful secondary focus and give added colour to the photo.
Cheers
