| Mecoptera (from the Greek: meco- = "long", -ptera = "wings") are an order of insects with about 550 species in nine families worldwide. Mecoptera are sometimes called scorpionflies after their largest family, Panorpidae, in which the males have enlarged genitals that look similar to the stinger of a scorpion. The Bittacidae, or hangingflies, are a prominent family of elongate insects known for their elaborate mating rituals, in which females choose mates based on the quality of gift prey offered by various males. |

Hello Jose,
What a neat shot of this attractive looking Scorpionfly.
The focus is tac sharp, allowing us to view it in fine detail. The coloration is true and natural and the exposure is perfect. Very informative notes. Great work!!

This is a lovely image, with lots of features in it to appreciate. The golden and black colours of the insect against the green leaves is striking and displays beautifully. I like the composition and close point of view and I also like the lovely, natural sunlight that brings out the colours to the ultimate best. Thanks for shraring. Best regards.

A beautiful easy on the eye fresh image with nice contrast between the scorpionfly and the leaf. Maybe slightly higher aperture or slight change of POV would have brought the left wing also into sharper focus.
