[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Because of its distinctive and unusual colour this beautiful mushroom is easily recognized: this is Purple Cort (Cortinarius violaceus).

The deep violet cap of this mushroom is upto 15 cm diameter, at first convex with the bent downwards edge, then flat with wavy edge; dry, scaly.

Gills are deep violet, broad, well-spaced, attached. The ripening spores form a rusty thin coat on them.

Flesh is thick, soft, at first sky-bluish, later white.

Stipe is up to 15 cm tall and 2 cm broad, dense, tuberose in the base, deep violet with traces of belts from coverlets.

It grows during August-November in deciduous and coniferous woods, prefers pine forests. In this case is a mixed oak forest.

Its areal covers temperate zone. It is rare.

Maybe, you are surprised, but Purple Cort is edible. Generally there are many edible corts, but few ones are very toxic. As mushrooms from genus Cortinarius are variable and are similar each to other, so it is better to not risk. But Purple Cort is similar only to itself.

I found this info HERE.

Hope you like!

Felipe, perfeita exposição, nitidez e ângulo.

Ótima profundidade de campo com o uso de f/32.

Belos tons de violeta nesta sugestiva imagem.

Também gostei de sua nota. E já que ele é comestível, pergunto: é gostoso?

Hi there Felipe & Cristina, I think your whole image here is just perfect. The mushroom stands out so well, but the other small plants are all so sharp and clear too. Good colours and well composed. bravo!

Hello Felipe. Great portrait of this one. It is mentioned in Romanian Flora but I never met it (yet). Probably is rare here too.
Here is the Hydnum recipe. I know I promissed you another one but I just haven't time to write it. I'll give it to you in the future, before the 2006 Hydnum generation will appear.

Regards, Petru

Hi Felipe!

Nice to see something new from you. Very nice POV, details and DOF [as always]. I like very geometric shapes of this fungus. Different mosses on BG made good, magical forest like mood.

This is a very nice one Felipe. I like the compo with the fungi growing out from the left to the top of the frame. Very well done.

Aahh Felipe, a beautiful specimen. Superb sahrpness and DOF and of course your trademark POV.
A 6 sec exposure at f32, incredible, but worth it. This is a beautiful shot.

Hola Felipe,

Nice capture of a beautiful mushroom. Useful note. About the photo, I think I little more light couldn't hurt.

Hola Felipe,
Maravillosa seta, me laman la atención su color y forma. La composición y exposición son óptimas.
