Stretch spiders or long jawed orb weavers.

Family Tetragnathidae:

About 50 species belongs to this family and eleven of them are described living in NW-Europe. Two genera can be found. They probably arose from the same evolutionary line as the Araneids because they also build orb webs. The family of the Tetragnatha is often found in damp, swampy habitats. These spiders have long slim bodies and their abdomen has a metal shiny look. They build orb webs with an open center like the Metidae.

Genus Tetragnatha:

Eight species occurs in NW-Europe. They have an extreme elongated abdomen, long legs and extreme large chelicera (jaws). They spin an orb web with a hole in the hub. Tetragnathidae do not use many radii in their web.

Specie Tetragnatha extensa:

Size: The female has a body length of up to 11mms, while the male is slightly smaller, growing to around 9mms.

Distribution: Found throughout NW of europe.

Months seen: May to September.

Habitat: Found on low growing vegetation, usually near water or boggy areas.

Food: Insects which it catches in a web.

Special features: The body colour can vary from creamy-yellow (as above) to green. When alarmed, it stretches its long legs out straight along a branch, in an effort to disguise itself.

Hi Felipe,
An excellent macro shot on this unique looking spider. Yur choice of composition and framing looks great here. The diffused fill flah has rendered nice saturated colors. Detail is tack sharp. Superb work!

Wow, you mean this spider actually looks elongated like that? Have never seen anything like that before. It is an eye-opener to nature's ways.
Superb image technically with a wonderful diagonal placement of the subject, DOF and clarity of details.
Thanks for sharing this grand image.

Hola Felipe,

Hey Filipe,
Nice and sharp, excellent lines with this diagonal presentation...Color, light, sharpness, all excellent as well.
Good work.

These looks like spiders just wanting to get there photo take... they play along with the DOF just so nicely. :)

Brilliant compo... love the three strong diagonals. Exceptional sharpness. No nits. just a pleasure to look at.

Hello Felipe!
I know these guys :-) I've got lots of photos too. But this one is great! I like the diagonal position with the leaf a lot! It's like a green highway and the spider like Schumaer on that highway ready for the speed! So beautiful dark green as a bg opposite to the light green of the leaf! Great shot! Thank you,

Hola otr vez,
Me maravillaron esa extraña araña y los detales de la imágen, con una composición e iluminación perfecta y por si fuera poco acompañada de una nota excelente.
