Hi friends
When someone gets inside a hide, normally guesses what could appear around that day ,that moment. You can stay in the best spot, have more or less under control the area and homing where the animals could show... but in the end they are the ones to decide where to show. And many times you have to go away without almost taking a single picture, but there is always some species that saves your day, like Robins in the countryside, like Little Grebes (Thachybatus ruficollis) in the salt marshes. Although the latter is much more aloof than Robins, because they spent most of the day underwater in search of prey, reason why they spend the less time over the water. This time I was lucky and I could shoot it after emerging from a plunge.

Cuando uno se mete en el hide, normalmente piensa en que es lo que se dejará caer por la zona en ese día y en ese momento, uno puede disponer de los mejores sitios, de tener controlado más o menos la zona y la querencia donde se pueden poner los animales........ pero son ellos los que disponen al final de donde se ponen o no se ponen. Y en muchas ocasiones te vas sin prácticamente tirar una foto, pero siempre hay alguna especie que te salva ese día, los petirrojos cuando estas en el campo. Y los zampullines cuando estas en las marismas. Aunque esta especie es mucho más esquiva que los petirrojos, más que nada debido a que se pasan gran parte del día sumergiéndose en busca de presas, por lo que pasan el mínimo tiempo encima del agua. En esta ocasión hubo suerte y lo pude pillar después de emerger de una zambullida. Esta realizada a última hora de la tarde.

Hello Jorge,
seems like a compulsory activity to give a comment on your picture, but it's not. I really like this one. The base (dark blue water' matches well with the nice summer plumage of the grebe. Also crispy sharp, well done. This proves that patience and good skills result in good images.

Hi Jorge

What a splendid capture!
This little grebe is simply adorable! Your timing couldn't have been any better! This light comming from the front of the bird made it also a fantastic catch, alltogether with the small drops of water from its head and that charming deep blue color and reflection from the water.
It looks amazing!
The details are impeccably sharp, the POV is excellent and the composition wonderful!
Very, very well done!

This is fine sharp portrait with excellent lighting showing the summer plumage of this Little grebe very well.
The reflection of the sky in the wavey water contrasts well as a BG.
