As we have had rain and wind I have not been out to take photos in our new environment. I therefore post this one from the summer.

A species of orb-web spider, Agalenatea redii

A new species for TN.

Swedish name: Luden Hjulspinnare, meaning, 'fluffy wheel-spinner'. Orb-web spiders are known as 'wheel-spinners' in Swedish.

This species spins a round orb web with a centrally placed platform where it lies in wait for prey. Here it waiting for prey on a leaf, where it resembles a bird-dropping. This species occurs in low vegetation.

This species is widespread in N. Europe

At only about a max of 7 mm in diameter, this spider challengers the limits of my equipment

This shot was taken at a distance of about 1.8 meters using a cheap tripod. After moderate cropping and size reduction the image was sharpened, adjusted for shading and converted from RAW to JPEG.
