Today a capture of a few days ago I think it is a kind of ground beetle,I had some problems capturing this beetle and its colors,as I normally use my fillflash for macrocaptures, however the colors (especially the blue lines on this beetle would vanissh using fillflash),to have a good dof (with my macrolens) I had to close the aperture quite a bit and needed to have a longer exposuretime, luckely this beetle was on the ground and didnt move during this capture, hope you like it and tfw and a nice continuation of your weekend

Thanks to krzystof and ulla found out that the proper ID of beetle shown is a Forest dung beetle (Geotrupes stercorosus).

Hi Paul

It is not a ground beetle. It is Geotrupes (fam: Geotrupidae) probably G. mutator. Nice shot Natural situation I like it
Best wishes

Hello Paul,
Fine capture of Stor Tordyvel (Geotrupes stercorarius). I captured one yesterday myself and was surprised at how the blue showed up when using the flash. Fine close capture of this big beetle that is very common at the moment here.
TFS and regards, Ulla

Hi paul,
This is a good capture of this Beetle. It si not one that I have noticed in the UK.
Good and sharp and the colouring shows up well. You were lucky that it stayed still for you.
Well done,

Hello Paul,
this is a professional picture of this kind of beetle. Dependent on the light it is sometimes very difficult to show outlines and structures of these dark and reflecting insects in a satisfying way. You achieved this goal excellently. Great depth of field and super sharp structures. The blue iridescence is prefectly presented. > to my favou´rites!
Best wishes, Peter

Hi Paul.
Wonderful capture, the colour and exposure is fantastic. Is it the Dung Beetle that gives off a terrible smell?
Superb sharpness and detail.

Hello Paul!
Very shiny, very convex, and very good presented! :)
It is not easy to photograph beetles from this genus and this picture is really good.
TFS and have a nice evening,

Buen enfoque y gran profundidad que permite ver sobradamente todos los detalles de este precioso escarabajo de preciosos colores. Buena luz y entorno. Preciosa fotografía.

Saludos Paul.

Hi Paul,
Wonderful close-up shot of this beetle with very impressive sharpness and nice colours. The shine on its body looks fabulous and I like the blue border. Good use of flash lighting and a great POV to portray it. Very nicely composed. Kudos.
