[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Today an unexpected surprise as I was shooting some macro shots (of damselflies and other bugs) on the waterside in Vatmark Alhagen,I sheard some noise in my BG,when I looked I saw this male woodpecker jumping from reet to reet,I did not hesitate and changed quickly my lense, lucky enough the woodpecker didnīt bother my presence and I could make a few shots before he dissappeare, actually it was in or about the same spot where I shot some pictures of the female last season.

Here a post of the female

Hope you like it as much as I did and tfw

Hola Paul,
preciosa captura,
detalles y pov. excelentes,
buen bg. y nitidez...

Sounds like a great day of photography Paul.
Love the way he is hanging on. DOF lovely, colour and detail great.
Reet? is that reeds that we would know it as, stem of tall grasses. Is he peeling the outer skin off?
Wonderful behavior image

Hi Paul,
It was a friendly woodpecker, lucky he didn't fly away while you changed your lens. Nice catch, I liked the composition. TFS

Hello Paul,
Very fine shot of mindre hackspetten. This is sharp with good detail, especially the eye. Excellent BG and compositon.
Well done and TFS!
Have a nice weekend,

As it comes to this image, a very nice surprise indeed if you are not expecting to see a bird this close when photographing macro.
Lovely image with excellent sharpness and exposure.
Wonderful color contrast between the red spot on his head and the green color tones in the BG.
Never seen a woodpecker on reet before. I suppose he was looking out for some dinner :)
Sorry, but I'm out of smilies.
Best regards and have a nice weekend, Harry

Nice catch, good detail and exposure. Spot on! Click!!!

A really nice image of this spotted woodpecker. The exposure really turned out nice on this one Paul. :)

Hi Paul,
Good compo, nice colours, excellent sharpness.
Minor nit;: lacks a bit of detail in the black...
