this is a such a good photo!
+++ The pose is a classic of a Nuthatch, great POV and a good composition that leaves enough space for the bird to look into ;)
The BG is amazing! The blotched colours are great. Superb lighting aswell.
Very, very sharp with good details. Perfect DOF. I love the texture on the tree.
--- There's some noise on the bird but it's no problem at all.
An outstanding shot.

A great picture and a terrific and informative note to go with it as well.
I especially like notes like this taht talk about how the picture was taken, in what conditions and how it turned out the way we see it here...thanks a lot for that. I believe we all can learn from this.
I'm VERY impressed here by the sharpness of the shot, considerring the very long focal length (420mm) and ONLY 1/60 of a shutter speed. My hat is off to you for that!
The details on the nuthatch came out very nice and the composition you managed to get here is lovely, exploring that classic pose they have.
The BG behind is simply magnificent, too! All those warm autumn colors blurred so nicely contrast well with the colors and textures on the bird and bark from teh FG.
What more can i say...Congrats!

You and your wife have similar captures in your eyes...the soft, gentle quiet of nature. The soft breeze or the stillness that brings out each step you take and you crunch over the leaves. Not enough to stop you from putting the lens to eye and clicking. Wonderful life you have. Wonderful place...

Dear Ivan!
My first reaction was very simple and I would even say - not very complicated: WOW! :)
This is a really great photo! And I mean - not only because of fantastic (even if very typical for this species) pose, not only because of lovely and great sharpness and details. But also because of great control of light, depth of field and focus.
Addtional points/pluses for amazing colours of BG! It is simple fantastic! And perfectly allow to expose the bird.
And last thing, maybe a little strange but as you know I am not ornitologist :) - I just learned thanks to this presentation the English name of this species (in Polish it is kowalik :>).

This is a lovely bird - even though common in your parts. Seems like most of the birds where I live are shades of brown and I'd love to travel more even in my own country to see more color. A bird like this that perches upside down is even more uncommon (unless you count Nuttall's Woodpecker who performs all kinds of angled perching!) Anyway - great focus and composition. You always have good use of Gaussian blur in your bg's. TFS!

What a pleasure to find this piece of art in your gallery! As the title suggests, the autumn colors are visible in the surroundings and make such a perfect background. Before I read your notes I thought there were some colorful flowers that are visible in the background.
You achieved a great composition by following the rule of thirds. The simplicity in your composition makes your photo efficient and the wonderful colors in the background makes it stand out from the crowd.
The use of flash was a great idea as it filled in with the necessary light where the shadows were too harsh, even if from a distance. It's a fine picture with perfect exposure on the bird! Thank you!
