Insects in flight-23 :

I present once more the European Paper Wasp (Polistes dominulus, Haus- Feldwespe. Vespidae) in flight, this time with a twist: You notice the two Strepsipteran parasites between the tergites.

Infection of the paper wasp by the strepsipteran or twisted-wing parasite Xenos vesparum Rossi results in a dramatic behavioral change of the host, which culminates in colony desertion and the formation of extranidal aggregations, in which up to 98% of occupants are parasitized female workers. The infected wasps can survive the winter while the noninfected workers will die. The manipulation of the host helps the parasite population to reproduce and find new hosts.

Hi Dietrich
It is not easy to obtain such picture quality with an insect in flight.
The wasp is shown with sharp details and with favorable dof.
