Better known backyard denizens:
Fortunately, the backyard also holds its lot of longhorn beetles, my preferred group. Here you see the 18 mm, female Rednecked longhorn beetle (Coleoptera; Cerambycidae; Leptura rubra; Rothalsbock). It's sitting on a Campanula persicifolia and tries to get to the pollen.
It's easy to tell the species despite the fact that there are about 14 Leptura encountered in Europe. The red pronotum gives it away. The male is smaller, paler. Eggs are deposited on rotten wood of Pines and firs, where the larvae develop and contribute to natural decay in the forests.

I used the macro dual flash with diffusers, a tripod and 1/125, f28. I processed the slide in RAW.

Hello Dietrich,
This is a beautiful capture of a female L rubra, a fairly common longhorn in Sweden.
You have achieved a fine sharpness and set it in an attractive compostion with the bellflower. If I were to be fussy I would mention the removal of a tarsus and too much brightness on the flower. But this does not detract from the quality of this shot.
Well done and TFS!

great focus nice colors good setting with the blue flower

bonjour dietrich

Hello Dietrich!

Nice composition, POV and DOF. But your photo is too bright. So, I allowed myself making a WS photo with some adjustments and hope you like it.
best regards.
