Hi all!

I'm glad to be back after acouple of weeks and I'm happy to meet you all again! I hope you are all doing well!

During my holidays, I was taking part in a ski hiking camp in the Kanton of Graubünden. We were staying at Marmorera, near Bivio on the way to the Julier pass. There we were able to do a lot of different summits up to 3200m. The snow conditions were great, a lot of untouched powder slopes and very little avalanche risk. In one word, it was the paradise on earth (which is a pleonasm, where else could it be, eh?).

During the 8 days we were there I didn't go on a hiking tour just once. This day, I chose a little river I wanted to discover and where I made a series of pictures like the one I present you here. I don't know the name of that small river, it's also not mentioned on the map, but it's an affluent of the river Julia. As you can imagine, it was pretty cold up there although the sun was shining every day.

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Markus and nice to see you back!

It sounds like you had a splendid holiday! I expect a lot of amazing photos and vistas from all those peaks and high regions you spoke about ;)
Until then, i am delighted to examine this lovely ice statue, filled with glossy sides and impressive reflections.
The colors are also wonderful and the DOF is great, isolating one of them nicely, but still revealing sufficient details about the rest.
Surely the diagonal composition adds dynamics to the scene and completes this great presentation.
Wonderful work, my friend!

Bravo and TFS
Horia

So good to see you and your images of highly symbolic pattern and meaning...At first I thought it was chrome! Then second glance told me it was ice...and a well executed composition at that. I wish I could train my body to think as the title...since it will be well below zero on C and F the next two days...Perhaps staying inside and praying the electricity doesn't go off...a worry I never had when I lived in the mountains...just toss on another log..and this photo would have been a minute by minute sight up there as well...You shall have me digging into my archives now.

Hi Markus,
great to see you back!
I hope you enjoyed your holiday. I also went skiing a few weeks ago, it really is fantastic way to spend a winter holiday.
You can't beat the rythmic movement of skiing and the crisp mountain air! :)
This is a fine image of this icicle.
The clarity is incredible and the reflections and glossyness of the ice is brought across superbly. Very good detail.
Superb DOF that focuses our attention on the main icicle by slightly blurring the others.
The diagonal composition is brilliant!
Excellent work Markus.
Well done,
Joe

Hi Markus,
excellent to see you back with your own inimitable style! As usual, perfectly exposed, super clear and pin sharp - another slice of nature shown to us through your eyes in an indiviual and unique way. Putting these icicles on the diagonal is a great choice of framing.
Well done my friend, hope to see some more from you soon!
Paul

Hi Markus!

First of all I'm very happy to see you back...
This time I was absent for about a week, hope I will have time to be here again. Good for you having a holiday in the past weeks, it must have been wonderful.

As I can see you lost none of your special way of seeing, while I think you turned to a bit happier color presentation while keeping the artistic taste and your so live imaging I like so much! I love the drop that's about to fall, takes the rotation out of reality and brings the image to life.

Let me add here how glad I am that you liked my image, and thank you very much for adding it to favs also!

It's nice to meet you again,

Best regards,
Andor

Dieter

Hello Markus,
Lovely lines and shapes, nature's own abstract artwork!
I like the framing and the fine details, and the way light plays in the icicles is always a pleasure to see...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Markus,
The angle of this photo is a bit confusing. One would expect to see them verticale. But, this does bring the photo an more dymanic view and looking at the water drop they really were this angled.
The amazing clarity and details in the photo are most pleasing.
TFS,
Niek
