Hi all!

It's sunday evening, time to upload a picture for TN. That also means time to think at that wonderful community, virtual indeed, but nevertheless important and valuable.

And because this community has become important to me, the choice of the picture I want to upload also gets another dimension. It has to be a picture that means much to me, that I like and that I associate with good feelings and emotions. This picture fulfills these conditions. Oh, I don't want to anticipate your impressions or try to influence them, far from that, but it's important to me to chose one I like.

I took it in a tiny river near Bivio during the ski hiking camp last december/january. The day was bright und sunny, and the night was very cold (~-17°C). The small river at most places turned into wonderful ice sculptures. After one of my last postings, I'm happy to show you another one of these sculptures.

For me, it's also a fine and convenient way to finish a marvellous week-end that I shared with my wife in the mountains. We made two easy, but terrific snowshoe tours in the Freiburgese Prealps. Tomorrow, another week of hard work will begin, so I try to escape and to fly away for the last couple of minutes by looking at that mysterious sculpture.

Kind regards

Markus

N.B. Taken freehand in RAW as usually, slight exposure corrections (levels) and also slight color balance, sharpness, saved as TIFF. The pictures I like I always save as TIFF in the original dimensions in order to be able to print them. Crop and JPG for TN.

Hi Markus

You have really surpassed yourself - beautiful! The tones of colours are great and the close crop works exceptionally well.

Hi Markus

Another very interesting and original photo from you!
I think i understand why you like this one so much :)
I too find it very beautiful, with all those fluid-like shapes which are in fact solid and all those colors - which are in fact reflections of the white light :) It's a very interesting "game" :)
The sharpness is very nice, but on a more personal note, i think i would have gone for a high f-stop, in order to keep as much as i could of it in perfect focus, so that the illusion would be even greater...but that's just my opinion...it might me different from anybody else's.
Anyway, it's a lovely post, my friend!

Bravo and TFS
Horia

Hi Markus!

You are going in a direction in your posts towards themes that are more happy as I noted before, so it's good to see yourself writing about that being your intention as well. I won't go in details this time but tell that I think it fits well in this direction and that I like this direction as well. Maybe the time you took off TN and that you visit less often brings you a change that effects you in a good way.
It feels funny that what brings people close here who are far apart in space is what you'd think of the last - the lot of work that makes us come here in our little free times. So meet you at the weekend my frind :)

Best regards,
Andor

Hello Markus! Wonderful work. Original lightness. Very good texture. Beautiful capture. Good luck!

Hi Markus,
I thought I was looking at molten iron. The colors for the reflection sky are just like the oil stains you can find on a ore liquid.
it is just amazing that such rapid cold can transform a river in such beautiful shapes.
TFS,
Niek

P.S. I did notice that you need a realy good monitor to see the beauty of this photo. I looked at it briefly at work and missed out on a lot of details.

Hi Markus,
i see the fruits of your trekking through the snow has yielded another beauty. The diffused and refracted light here is extremely eye catching, very well done.
Paul

Bonjour Markus,
La nature est une artiste et que de merveilles elle créée. C'est vraiment original comme photo et composition. Les teintes de couleurs et détails sont très esthétiques. L'ensemble a presque l’air fait en une sorte de verre ou de cuivre, c'est étonnant! Merci,
Claudine

Hello Markus

This looks like a sculpture of a female nude.It is like she is lying on her stomach,I see the small of the back, the shoulder blades, the posterior, as she lies in running water.Perhaps my imagination is overworked.
A beautiful capture.
The focus is sharp with wonderful detail.

Hallo Markus-Poet,

Laurent
