[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On reaching of some limits:

This baby Speckled bush cricket (Orthoptera; Tettigoniidae; Leptophyes punctatissima; Punktierte Zartschrecke) measures 3 mm and I feel that I have reached (or overreached) the limit of magnification I can achieve in the field. The larva sits on a Geum stalk, some pollen grains are clinging to the antennae. It seems that this cricket species is herbivorous although the long antennae suggest the possibility of prey detection, some juicy aphids maybe.

Technicals: macro lens and Kenko extension tubes, dual macro flash with light dispersers, one in front and one behind the animal for straylight. Monopod. RAW, ISO 100, covered sky, 1/125 sec; f/16. Post processing in PS.

Hello Deitrich, this is an absolutely incredible macro of this Speckled Bush Cricket. Very incredible sharp detail seen on this guy, right down to the pollen on this antennae. Going with an F/16 provides excellent depth of field for this great coverage of the Criket and the stalk he is on. Light and colour is excellent. Very excellent notes.

Thanks, John

Hello Dietrich,
A baby certainly with very antennae..rich wonderfully saturated colours in this very fine macro. The details are excellent and I like this composition with the subject and its perch to the right. The darg green BG sets of the subject and its perch in light green in FG very well.Good sharpness and focus as well.
TFS & Cheers

Hello Dietrich,
For a macro of a 3mm long Speckled Bush-cricket nymph this has great quality. The sharpness and DOF in particular, are excellent and the composition against the dark natural BG with the use of flash show this little insect up very well.
Thanks for sharing this beauty,
Best regards, Ivan
