[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Learning to do macros with a compact camera (bicycling oblige):

The automatic focus (there is no manual way with compact cameras) was correct on the Marbled fritillary (Lepidoptera; Nymphalidae; Brenthis daphne; Brombeer- Perlmuttfalter) despite its movements.

The picture was taken at the Cousimbert mountain, at 1'000 m a.s.l.

Hi Dietrich,
A splendid shot with a good variety of insect life on display. Both butterflies are pretty sharp and the Nymphalid shows very good details. The composition is good. Overall the picture looks a little dark to be and the colours a little too saturated, so I thought I would have a little dabble with Photoshop. Attached is a workshop with a few small changes to lighten the mood. I hope it is useful. Thanks.

Hello Dietrich
composition with very delicate colors. Beautiful the soft tonalities of the flowers on which the butterflies are put down that with their warmer tonalities contrasts well with the background and with the color of the flowers. Optimal focusing and beautiful details.

The nice thing about compacts is that the DOF is greater but you have also managed a good OOF natural Bg in this shot. Both the daphne and sylvanus are sharp and the eristalis is well seen.
Nice one Dietrich!
Thanks and all the best,
Ivan

Lieber Dieter,
Peter
