My River

Dance, my river, dance!
If I could I would waltz with you.

You have teached me the way of happiness
As well as the happiness of the way.

You have teached me how to overcome hurdles
And to transform them into works of art.

You have teached me how to read the stone
Eternal memory and anthology of our earth.

You have teached me the art of decor and design,
The choice of colours, the sense of death.

Now, grant me a last favour
And tell me the advantage to shape -
By your own hands - the course of your destiny.

I believe it's time to present you "my" river Aergera from a different point of view. I take many of my pictures in the bed of this wild river, a magical place for me. I hike through its bed barefoot, there's no path, just stones and trunks. Here, I show you a little fall and a surprising sculpture near the source. You also can recognize the typical Flysch formations that offer me so many beautiful works of art.

The day I took this picture there only was a tiny course of water. After a thunderstorm or heavy rain the river easily can carry blocks like the one you see here and the water can be of over 1m of height.

Taken in RAW, basic level corrections in Camera RAW, import to PS, sharpness and attenuation of the bright tones. TIFF, then JPG for TN.

Kind regards

Markus

Hello Markus,
You're lucky to 'own' such a beautiful river with plenty of opportunities for wonderful captures! This one is really beautiful showing the water fall gently across the Flysch. Beautiful light and colours and I love the 'sculpture' in the foreground too and the composition is very nice indeed!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hello Markus,
Wonderful use of light and great composition. The boulder on the right providing a sunny contrast to the little waterfall and the upturned root shrouds the water in mystery.
The viewer's eyes dance to the enchantment!
Excellent image and a nice bit of poetry to go with it!
Thanks and enjoy your weekend,
Ivan

Ciao Markus,

Herzlichst
Anne

Hi Markus.
You have found a very attractive place and wonderful POV. Your river is fine. We have not anything similar. Excellent exposure of the image and impressive combination of lights and shadows. Details are great despite the domination of dark areas. Note is sweet. Wonderful post. My best regards and TFS.
Alexei.

Hello Markus! Very interesting river, very interesting poem, nice natural light and bright, good colours, perfect contrast and sharpness. Splendid effect. Well done!

Hallo Markus,

Hello Markus,
Thank you for sharing your river with us. It is a beautiful and poetic note. It is also a beautiful photo with lovley composition and POV, our eyes follow the waterfalls down and gently flowing with the river. The tree trunk was kind of interupted our view of the waterfalls but it adds much depth and natural element to the composition. Well managed light and good details all around, even in the shadow part of the image. Thanks.

Hello Markus,

An artistic composition, with emphasis on the big rock and the driftwood!
And soon comes spring and fills the riverbed with water from the melting snow...
A fine composition with good light!

Greetings,
Pablo -

Thanks for letting us into your 'river' zone -- the source of your creativity that finds powerful expression in different aspects of this quiet and peaceful haven you enjoy near your home.
Yes, I can see the stone formations or Flysch you have brought to us from time to time in the form of most stunning abstractions. The natural 'sculpture' in the foreground integrates well with the surroundings.
From now on, it would be easy to connect with your creations emanating from the bed of this river so close to your heart.
Regards.
Ram

Hi Markus,
since seeing your abstract posts, your river is verey rich in minute beauty and your possess a seeing eyes to depict them creatively. The beauty lies in the composition but thwe composition lies in the moment. Moment lies at the power of photo and graphic.
These elements are well interacted in the faculty to choose the right time, the right angle, the right location. Seen in a top view and myopic, that is your composition that being manifested.
Beautiful production, beautiful nature see.

bonjour Markus
