Water strider
Arraignée d'eau

Order: Hemiptera
Suborder: Heteroptera
Size: 8-10mm
Habitat: Still waters

The water-striders live mostly on the surface of still waters and need to have a water-temperature of 11-15° They feed on other insects which fall into water. There are many different species of Gerridae in Europe,I don't know which one it is in this case(may be Gerris lacustris).
Interesting is also the presence of very small white insects, may be aphids. Some informations on these little creatures would be welcome.

Ciao Anne, great capture of fantastic bug walking on water, fine details and splendid sharpness, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hello Anne,
I also uploaded an image of a little Pondskater earlier and, in my experience, I can testify that they are not very easy to get a good image of but this is an excellent one. Fabulous quality with the white insects adding interest - they have probably been sucked dry already and he is waiting for more food to fall from the sky. Truly a pleasure to view. Best wishes.

Bonjour Anne,
A super sharp capture of this species of Pond Skater, a group of insects not often shown on TN!
The dorsal POV shows its features with clarity and natural colours and it is interesting to see the drowned insects that it feeds on, on the surface of the water in this pleasing composition.
Merci et pensées meilleurs,

Hello Anne,
this is an exciting capture and presentation of the water skipper.
Though there are plenty in my place I seem to have overlooked its existence and it wonderful beauty.
Very well seen in a pin sharp view.

Buen encuadre. Un trabajo especial.

Saludos Anne: J. Ignasi.

Hello Anne,
Excellent photo of this Water Strider in great sharpness, details and beautiful natural colours. Good use of flash. Nice composition.

Liebe Anne,
