What bad remark can i write down on this one...mmmmm, the left scale on the front wing is...
only joking this is a excellent photograph of two insects that frequent flowers, just look at the spider, great POV, and shot at the right time, the butterfly is also well positioned if I can say shots like this is rare, Well Done Kim, I need some lessons please :-))

Few days ago I was in the middle of my critique of these photo and suddenly it disappeared. So now i hope i will finish my note :-) Great compsition. Interesting POV. It is Hamearis lucina Family Lycaenidae Subfamily Riodininae. Riodininae is now a subfamily but is used to be family Riodinidae.

I really like this unusual POV and those great colors and details. What is most amazing is that you caught two species at the same time, wow! This is a lucky shot! I think that this is a crab spider; this spider takes the color of its environment (I have a post here with a yellow one) ... As it for the butterfly, I cannot help with ID; I don't know them very well. This is a high quality picture, my compliments. TFS,

Hello Kim,
the situation is phantastic, well seen and nicely presented. From eye to eye - David and Goliath. Who will be the winner. Excellent composition and beautiful natural colours. Pretty good sharpness and depth of field.
Species identification:
- Butterfly: Hamearis lucina (Riodininae)
- Spider: Misumena vatia (Thomisidae)
- Flower: Chrysanthemum leucanthemum (Compositae)

This is indeed a fantastic capture! What a territorial battle!
Excellent timing, i guess, above all!
Also the POV is really great - it gives a great angle for both the butterfly and the spider - and the colors and tones are very beautigul.
Also the details are very nice and sharp, the lighting is spot-on and the composition great.

Impresionante macro Kim con una oportunidad casi única que has aprovechado muy bien aquí... el encuentro de la araña cangrejo con una enorme mariposa, con el punto de vista ideal, excelente control de la luz, mostrando buenos detalles incluso sobre los pétalos blancos de la flor.
El DOF parece algo escaso, aunque lamentablemente no incluiste los valores en la presentación.
En cambio, el desenfoque logrado sobre el fondo es perfecto, realzando y dramatizando aun más la escena principal.
Sólo por curiosidad... por qué recortaste el extremo superior del ala del insecto?.
Una gran captura, sin dudas.

Impressive macro Kim with an almost unique opportunity that you have taken advantage very well here... the encounter of the spider crab with an enormous butterfly, with the ideal point of view, excellent control of the light, showing good details even on the white petals of the flower.
DOF seems something scarce, although regrettably you didn't include the values in the presentation.
On the other hand, the out of focus achieved on the bottom is perfect, enhancing and dramatizing even more the main scene.
Only for curiosity... why did you clipped the superior end of the wing of the wing of the insect?.
A great capture, without doubts.

Brilliant catch - I do hope the butterfly scaped even though the spider seems ready to jump! I've saved a few this summer! I like the sharp focus on the spider and the antennae against the dark background.

This is amazing capture,Kim.
Very nice composition,up a little crowded but never mind.Splendid details on butterfly and on spider too.Very good POV offers nice view of whole scene.Good light gives very well saturated colours.Perfect is also monochromatic OOF BG.Great work!
