This is a lovely macro capture of this great species, taken from a very nice POV and with an exceptional DOF that keeps it entirely in full focus.
Very good exposure balance in the scene and wonderful colors.
I too hope to catch some lovely butterflies soon :)

I learn a lot when I go through your gallery: first I learn about the definition of what a beautiful picture is made of, second I learn much about biological matter.

Hi Alexei

A lovely diagonal capture of this butterfly. You got the workings of that Sigma lens well under the thumb.

The DOF is spot-on for this shot as the aperture at f/11 cover the full range of the insect to ensure all details are nice and sharp, while it also took care to isolate the BG and render it well OOF thereby complimenting the subject and making it stand out well in the frame. The joyful colours are bright and natural and the composition worked well, just a slight pity of those leaves that came in the way, but that's no big train smash.
