Hello neighbor! what a wonderful montage to wake up and post next to! I love montages..they give each and every angle. And every one of yours is equal in contrast and colour. It is a dizzying concept almost...but one that should adorn the cover of a book or perhaps a good photographic note card. Super work Alexei.

you said that these shots are not outstanding images, i am a bit confused about your standard of outstanding work???? If this isnt outstanding then i have to find a place to hide after doing my postings at TN.

Excellent compilation of four great pictures of this flying insect, the images are razor sharp with good details, well composed with plesing colors, the pov of each post offers different view of the flying insect,

Hello Alexei,
I've also watched this insect also in my garden on flowers of lavender and didn't think that take shot them in flight. Although there was many flowers I saw only two Bombylius.
Your idea is charm.

If you aren't pleased with this collage then I would say you set your standards too high. Each of these pictures is a gem on its own. I love the different positions of these insects - they must have been wonderful to watch. Colors and details of all four are superb. I tried to pick a favorite but couldn't - I love them all.

Hello Alexei,

The sharpness of these flying insects is amaising. You succeded to raly freez the movement of these quick moving insects. The colors are rendered very well looking absolutly natural.

What a beautiful presentation of these very cute little Bee Flies. You've captured them so nicely in different positions and against a fine background. Great focus and sharp details too. They must be really hard to catch as they dart around. I hope they'll be back in your garden next year too!

What a well conceived and well executed montage of these most charming of 'bugs'! I say bugs because they remind me of the little flying creatures that are always depicted on cartoons with their proboscis out, ready to sting someone!

What a splendid collage and a great presentation of this interesting species!
You garden does indeed seem to contain a lot of wonderful insects and your gallery is proof for that.
The photos taken here are impeccable, each presenting the subject from a different POV, but all with exceptional sharpness. Farther more, the DOF is spot-on for such shots, keeping the entire subject in full focus and blurring the BG nicely and uniformly.

Hello Alex,

I was absent on TN for a while, so I misswed some of your shots. This one is extremely nice, it shows the amazing Bombylius at work. It is very difficult to catch flying insets but you arrived at amazing shots thanks to 1/1'000 sec shutter speed. Bombylius looks clumsy and even funny when seen from up front, they give the impression of strabism. But the picture clearly reveals how elegantly they operate: using the hind legs as balancers, have steric vision for precision-positioning. Thanks for this, Alexei.

What do you mean by "not outstanding images". I have been trying this also, but I somehow never seem to succeed with an insect in flight. These images to me look great and very well captured. All of these images are very sharp and well focused and taken with great timing. Great bg and very nice colours.

They are fine pieces of work..!
The insect is captured with amazing clarity and details, I tried this myself the other day, with a bumble bee but the result wasn't much...
A fine collage with pin sharp details in the main subject, lovely colours too!
