i am sorry about your 300 mm broken lens, this zoom 70-200 VR is really versatile; a superb portrait of this Pigeon taken with outstanding sharpness and splendid natural colours, a very good test.
Have a good week

Beautiful photo, gifted with great clarity and eloquence in the pose of the bird. I think the lens that gave in place of another, is quite efficient. Obviously, your talent has appeared in the photo. Good job! greetings and happy week for you!

Your narrative notes accompany this picture very well and I have read them with great interest. It seems that your new lens does a good job! And why not presenting a common pigeon, eh? They are beautiful birds, and your picture is the best proof for that! I like the bird's pose and the colours as well as the details in the feathers are superb.

It seems your new toy worked well with this one! In these days, i am also thinking to buy a wide angle for landscape shoting! Have you got any idea or suggestion on this subject?
TFS and have a nice night MF!

Saludos: Josep Ignasi.

It is an amazing lens, Alexei; the picture is so very sharp and crisp. Still, I believe it is Alexei behind that lens that deserves the credit for this kind of a professional work.
Thanks for your kind words on my Hoverfly picture. I feel very guilty that due to too much of work, I fail to respond to people's kind words on time.

You have a new lens and you seem to be happy with it. I can understand, because the colors look very natural and fine. The subject you have chosen is simple, but you show it in a perfect manner, a classical shot! Well composed with fine sharpness, subtle and natural colors. And a dreaming pigeon..
Thanks and kind regards

This is such a pretty bird with lovely features and details and you have outdone yourself with the camerawork. The pigeon's feathers are as neat and tidy. The pose very precise and orderly. You have captured its prominent features and characteristics well. Looking at this pigeon has touched my heart for some or another reason, it appears so innocent and naive. The colours in the neckline is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

very sharp shot of this dove.Such a lovely details well seen. You have got a new lens and you got the same creative eyes, both give this capture a super one.
Nice reading about your experience in waiting for the lens as well as being so anxious in trying the new nikkor.
Well done and congratulations.

Hi MF Alexei,
First of all it's great to know You already have a new lens instead of the broken one and You can handle the technique very well (as it seems from the pic). Secondly, sorry for giving this critique with such a delay. In exchange, my today upload will be a dedication to You & everyone else who's named Alex, Joseph or Ben - read why. :)
Gorgeous shot. The composition's simple but great, I really like the "curves" of the pigeon and the way You positioned the subject into the photo (cropping). Sharpness and colors are second to none, the pose and the eye-contact are great plus. And I love Your notes. They're personal and interesting - like mine. :) Overall, huge congrats from me, and of course tfs.
Have a nice weekend, friendly regards, László

Well I would say that the test for this new lens is gone over expectations
maybe the 300 f / 4 had a capacity on the distance, but with the new focal 2.8, certainly excellent results in your photos
take care sERGIO

Looks like you have mastered your new lens! I wish you better luck with this one than your last. A very beautiful picture of this pigeon on the pier. I think we undervalue these birds because they are so common. The colors are stunning, the face and eye are lovely, the details of his face and feathers are superb. It is nice meeting your lens and your guy.

Your new lens seems great!
As you are already a skillful photographer, you are sure to make great use of this lens, like this fine portrait of a feral Pigeon. I like the sharpness, BG and pose and the composition and POV make it a supern image.
Thanks and have a good weekend,

Since a young boy I have always had a deep love for pigeons. I remember one of my cousins had Homing Pigeons which he would bring over to my house and release. I marvelled how they would circle the house a few times and then head directly towards their home.
Your Rock Pigeon reminds me of those joyous boyhood days. The bird is well shown with fine plumage detail and beautiful colors. Very nice composition and taken from an attractive low POV. Great work!!

very charming portrait, pleasantly relaxed in a matter-of-fact way, funny to see that lovely bunch of feathers sticking out at the neck. Very precisely spotted, wonderful smooth transitions and true colours. A shot just taken for testing new equipment turned out to be another masterpiece - what a joyful and satisfying experience! Congratulations my dear fried - to your new lens and its results. You make me turning my head for a new dSLR :)
With thanks, and all my best wishes to you,

I like how your full frame body rendered the colors and the smoothness of the background is also a clear indication of you ability to handle the glass really well. Nice lateral pov with the head turn. Exposure of the plumage is first class.
Thanks for sharing and kind regards.
