[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Yesterday we have visited our countryside garden. My 9th-years old granddaughter and me (both were equipped with cameras) went for a walk to the nearest lagoon (Khadzhibeisky Liman). We had not time even to go down to water on an abrupt coast as have seen through dense bushes the snake that was heated on an old tire. We both have few seconds to take picture of the cute creature. After my attempt to come closer, the snake dived into the water as a flash.

Naturally I have no idea about the species of the snake and cannot identify it at all. I only know that there are not (or were not) any poisonous snake in our region. I hope it is true until now.

Shot is cropped and resized. That is why I have shared uncropped original shot as a WS.

Hi Alexei,
It is well, very nice snake would be shame not take a picture. But it is a sad look on garden with tire,
Too often in my country too.
Regards Jiri.

What a marvellous picture of a snake, Alexei!
Though I'm scared of snakes, I am not averse to admiring a picture of them as good as this one.
Thanks and regards.

Hello Alex,
Very funny that you are speaking of "cute creature"! Now It is probably a Natrix looking at its round eye and the patterns of the body. They are often close to water too.
Well presented natural picture.

Hello Alexei,
surprising encounter with this snake. I like the good sharpness and the fine details. I also like the vermiculated pose and the natural surrounding.
Best wishes,

Another impressive photo Alex! Good composition, fantastic lighting and very good sharpness! Interesting subject too!

Impressive details sharp perfect DOF and good contrast for the interesting specie of snake. Just a cute creature MF ah ah!!

Hello Alexei

The cropping you did it is great but i prefer
much more the uncropped photo because it shows
more about the environment, reading your notes
to this kind of photography in French we say
« photo prise sur le vif », TFS

Privet Aleksej,
Though environment isn't attractive but view of the snake is good, perfectly visible skin pattern.

Dear Alexei,

having been absent from this site for several months, it is a great pleasure to see some fresh postings from you, and very lively and exciting ones, again! To me, that looks like a very good portrait of

Coronella austriaca (Laurenti, 1768,) Обыкновенная медянка,

looking quite dangerous because of its obvioudly aposematic markings resembling the poisonous Vipera berus. In fact, that snake is just as harmless to us humans as its other native relatives of Colubridae. But carefully staying in good distance and making use of a good tele will always be a good idea, who knows ...

Thank you my dear friend! Sending you all my best wishes from Vienna, Austria,

Privet Alexei,
Excellent photo, many details on the snake. The crop and composition's also perfect, just like the exposure. Brilliant shot, congratulations. Did your granddaughter manage to do her own photo, too?
Best regards, László
