Yes it looks a bit like tissue paper when the poppy begins to fade, something that has not struck me before this shot.
YOu present this fading poppy flower with good sharpness and composition and fine contrast with the BG.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Ricardo
Delicate image Alexei with beautiful point of view that depicts with total clarity what you express in the title of the presentation.
I like captured soft colors, with excellent illumination, although I believe that ISO400 has left a slight noise bottom.
Outstanding sharpness and focus with necessary OOF on the bottom of the scene.
An interesting post, thank you for sharing.
My best regards... Ricardo

this is a beautiful photo of a very common flower, but this one is old and dying yet keeping the charm of youth!
Yes I think every single creature on earth deserves attention and loving care even when she is old!
this photo and the words of your note are a truly sensitive and passionate hymn to life and to all creatures living in this world...with people like you ,my friend, this world should always be a better one!
thanks for sharing this touching photo

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This is like seeing a butterfly that is well past its prime with the tattered wings and dull colors. The subtle colors and sharp detail are from the excellent fill flash exposure. All living things have a place and purpose here. Some just last longer than others. Have you ever noticed that no matter if it is plant or animal, the most colorful ones have the shortest life spans.
I really liked the workshop photo with that field of beautiful red poppies.

It seems that nature has a way of preserving it's most beautiful element for a very small periodof time... (take aurora borealis or mayflies for a simple example).
Such is also the case of your beautiful poppy flower which has already lived most of its life and is ready to spread its seeds soon.
The OPV and lighting here i think are the key points of the photo, showing all the elements of the flower itself very nicly.
The details are great, clear and sharp and the colors are charming.
Very pleasant post and note, too.
Cheers, my friend and TFS

Your note touched me a lot. I really love your great sensibility and beautiful philosophy that I share with you at 100%. There are no living creatures here on earth that doesn't have a purpose for its existence from the biggest to the smaller one.
This is a wonderful portrait of this fragile beauty. Details, composition, exposure, DOF are just perfect. I never seen a field of wild Poppy in my life; I think that you are very lucky to have had this opportunity. I don't have place anymore in my fav's but this one is a favorite in my hearth
:-) Thanks a lot for this beautiful and tender moment.

A very interesting thoughts in your note, it really invites to reflection.
One have to learn to look also at decline of a life cycle, in this case the flower ready to spread their seeds.
Very good POV used, and right focus and exposure adjustments.

Very interesting notes to accompany this dramatic photo of the poppy flowers' life cycle. I love how you show this decaying papery flower while in the back one can see the next phase of its life in the singular seed pod. The workshop also show a lovely view of the poppy field in full bloom.
Your composition is fine with this isolated flower amongst the greenery of the surrounding environment. The colours are well defined, the details are crisp, the OOF BG enhances the flower very well, and the lighting was perfectly controlled.
Good work and TFS.

I found your commentary most appropriate, I think it is human nature to ignore or pass by the old and decaying with an eye always to the fresh and young. However the old has so much more to bring to us! Well taken shot and good observation.

"A lily of a day is far better in May . . .", says a British poet of the Romatic Era in one of his poems, Alexei. Your empathy for this short-lived wild poppy expresses the same sentiment in your note, my friend. Its brief life was WORTH something if it gave JOY to others.
The seed-pod nestled within the withering petals of the flower looks like a baby in the arms of an over-protective mother wanting to preserve it till her last breath.
[Sorry for the trite analogy; my 'literature' genes at work, I suppose :-)]
The picture is excellent in terms of composition, natural colours and sharp focus on the subject.

A tender connotation about lifespan: beauty and ageing, both worthwhile. This one seems still a slender flower, and its aged beauty has been fortunately and perfectly inmortalized. Like a homage to all old beauties who still gladden our lives and remembrances. It's good to halt sometimes to fix our eyes and our attention on them.
My compliments to you too.

Alexei, I like the fading poppy. But in the compo I see things I would do without, thus allowing more focus on the poppy itself. I have done a WS to illustrate. Hope you like. J.
