Orange Tip (Anthocharis cardamines) Native to UK Have also been recored as far away as Hong Kong, These Superb specimens mating in May on the banks of the River Cam at Granchester.
Nikon CP 8800 Macro in Auto, is set to 50.
The male is the one on top. maybe they have been together along time and no longer look at each other while mating.

Welcome to TN simon, nice capture of this classic late spring butterfly, nicely seen good details and BG OOF enough to show them up well.
As to her facing him they usually face away from each other as they mate tail to tail I have even seen her fly off towing him behind her.
