Hi Alan, it's a nice shot. There's not a great deal you can do with the blade coming over one wing and behind another it's tough work to clone that out. I've posted a WS for you to give the picture a little more punch. I did try cloning pout the horizontal blade and the flash above the head, which took some time and didn't looks that good.
I hope you like it and I hope you don't mind.

Another impressive macro from you. The POV has given an excellent view through the transparent wings. The depth of colour is fantastic. The image very well composed, tack sharp and clear. I actually like the effect of the grass over and under the wing. Nice work. Thanks.

Nice shot I love the vertical grasses in the background and the diagonal of the dragonfly, a very effective composition.
Nice clear shot

Alan it's a nice composition of a great dragonfly. There are minor imperfections which Paul's WS corrected. Very well done.

Hi Alan, a great shot of the D'fly. I love the pale colours here but looking at Pauls' WS, I think it does give it a "little more punch" as he said. Excellent clarity and POV. Well done.

A very good capture.
Composition and POV are excellent.
I tried a workshop to clone out the OE grass but it was too difficult (for my limited skills!).
Pauls done a great workshop.
Good work,well done.

I cannot help with the grass I'm afraid, I tried cloning it out but the result was a mess, I blame it on the cider ;-)
I agree with Paul about the 'punch' factor, but other than that it is a great image. I tried catching dragonflys a couple of weeks ago and know just how difficult it can be.
Hope you had a good holiday and thanks for posting.

Very good capture, I don't think theOE is too bad and Paul has done a prety good workshop already. In fact I think you should be very happy with shot, its well composed and sharp enough with good POV and DOF. Mant on TN would love to won this shot, including me.

Hi Alan, I envy you this shot. Firstly - it is very good. Sharp and detailed, with nice colours and BG. Secondly - subject is superb! I tried to capture this dragonfly yesterday but without luck. You did great jobb here!
A new way of writing critiques. I hope you don't mind.
Exposure:4, a wee, wee bit too dark imo
Colors:4, could be brighter/more vivid
Scale 1-5, 5 is the best.
As for the composition; The lines of the grass are fantastic.

You'd have to be very brave and skilled to try to clone out the grass between the wings. It's a very fine shot already, and I can see why you'd want to remove it, it'd make it even better. I can't see how you'd replace the pixels where the grass goes over the wing, though, without it being noticeable. I'm game to give it a try if you want to send me the original.
