I took this yesterday at Stocker's Lake. I used a monopod to steady the camera.

I hope you like it!

Latin name
Prunella modularis

Family
Accentors (Prunellidae)

Overview
A small brown and grey bird. Quiet and inobtrusive, it is often seen on its own, creeping along the edge of a flower bed or near to a bush, moving with a rather nervous, shuffling gait, often flicking its wings as it goes. When two rival males come together they become animated with lots of wing-flicking and loud calling.

Where to see them
Inhabits any well vegetated areas with scrub, brambles and hedges. Look in deciduous woodland, farmland edges, parks and gardens. Keeps largely on the ground and often close to cover.

When to see them
All year round.

What they eat
Insects, spiders, worms and seeds.

Hi Joe,
What a splendid start with your new equipment!
Now you're nearly getting up to Ellis' standard!! I like Dunnocks, they're not so easy to see here. All well in focus, sharp details and lovely colours. Well composed too and a lovely background. Very impressive Joe! I don't suppose we'll see so many macro shots from you now ;-(
Many thanks and cheers, Ulla

Hello Joe,
This is an extraordinarily sharp close capture of a Dunnock with a great pose, from a good POV and in a great composition on the bramble stem.
Superb bird shot!
Don't only stick to macros, you've got bird photography talents as well!
Thanks for sharing this,
Ivan

A keen image Joey...I believe the perch of thorns is almost as beautiful as the bird itself. By now you must be joining the ranks of the bird expert stage...sort of like the black bluet of the aviary knowledge world.

Joe: Enhorabuena !! Ya te han dicho casi todo en comentarios anteriores... La toma es impresionante. Lo primero que destaca es el excelente enfoque, pero fijándose bien se descubre un ojo que en pocas ocasiones lo he visto tan bien captado así como otros detalles. Luz casi inmejorable, buen encuadre y precioso posadero.
Un abrazo: J. Ignasi Tejedor.

Hi Joe!

Thank you to present us this little nice guy. I didn't know him before, but with the help of this picture and the detailed notes I learn much. From the technical point of view, I would like to underline the richness of details and the perfect lighting.

Kind regards

Markus

Ahah! Monopod makes the difference! Look at the clarity of details, this is superb! We don't have those birds here and it's a shame :) This is a superb composition with good exposure, very well done!

Hi Joe

Aaa yes...i see the first shots taken with the new gear...congrats!!!
It's really remarkable how quickly you've adjusted, my friend! These are all some high quality shots!

I also think that the meeting with Necip helped you in getting the grips better with your new camera, plus it gave you that big bonus in trying out all those cool lenses.
You shot here is very nice, with an excellent close-up on this cute dunnock. Considering the very long focal length and the slow shutter speed, i'd say that the sharpness is amazing! Very well done!
Just for my curiosity: how did you find it in terms of weight, with that lens mounted, in comparison with your old Canon? :)
Anyway, splendid work here and in you other recent pictures, too!

Bravo and TFS
Horia

PS: holiday was great! very beautiful, cultivating and interesting! definitely a place worth visiting :)

Hi Joe,
Magnifique quels superbes détails avec des couleurs trčs naturelles et un BG qui met le tout en valeur.
