[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Here's a closer view of the Robberfly I posted the other day.
As you can see from the title, this fellow won the International Ugly Pageant of 2008! :-)

I hope you like it anyway :-)

Hi Joe!

It's so ugly that it becomes beautiful! I want to say that the question whether something is beautiful or ugly is relative and subjective. Something is sure: your picture is perfect, shows great sharpness and is well exposed. All this highlights the effect of... ugliness!

:-)

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Joe,
Amazing macro shot directly from the next episode of Doctor Who;-) Sharp interesting details, good lighting, composition and POV. Great work!

What a vile creature, a winner for sure. Top quality macro as only you know how.

Ha! It is superb of course...reminds me of Red Riding hood..."My what big eyes you have".."All the better to see you with.."..I hate to imagine that this would actually be thinking as well as seeing...we only assume bugs have no reason.... perhaps one day we will know more..or better..this eye shot gives a spoonful of thought for the day..
Bob

Bonjour,
Il est toujours impressionnant de voir de si gros détail.
Bonne journée.

Not only it is fantastically macroed, this pink fushia background is amazing! Seriously, Joey, when I see insects in macro picture, I'm amazed and find a beauty in them as I don't see it so much on a normal scale. This is a fascinating picture, so many hair! And all the scales on its body, like an armour of ancient, ancient, ancient time. Very prehistoric yet still here on earth. Thank you!

Hello Joe,
Not a pretty sight I agree, but the magnified details depicted so sharply, especially of the head, are great to see! The BG gives it a somehat bloodthirsty feeling, even though the blood of its insect victims is not red.
Well done and thanks for sharing this.
That Sigma is a great lens!
