[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Here's a shot from my first meet with Necip at Stocker's Lake. I used his Sigma 50-500mm to take this.

I hope you like it!

Cormorant - Phalacrocorax carbo

Family
Cormorants and shags (Phalacrocoracidae)

Overview
A large and conspicuous waterbird, the cormorant has an almost primitive appearance with its long neck making it appear almost reptilian. It is often seen standing with its wings held out to dry. Regarded by some as black, sinister and greedy, cormorants are supreme fishers which can bring them into conflict with anglers and they have been persecuted in the past. The UK holds internationally important wintering numbers and with its breeding concentrations at a few sites it is an Amber List species.

Where to see them
Found around the UK coastline on rocky shores, coastal lagoons and estuaries, it is increasingly being seen inland at reservoirs, lakes and gravel pits.
When to see them
All year round.

What they eat
Fish

Hi Joe,

How is Necip? Please say hi for me next time you are in touch with him. No surprise that you did so well with his lens. A beautiful portrait of this Cormorant with the gorgeous turquoise eye. Colors and details of the eye, beak, and wet feathers are wonderful. I love the composition.

Hi Joe

A nice photo that reminds both you and us of that great day out with Necip.
Such photos, very high value, have been a common in his gallery here and are now part of yours...you've learned a few tricks from him and progressed a lot, too! My compliments!
Very nice details, gorgeous light on the head of the cormorant and lovely colors everywhere.
Perhaps i would have cropped out the bottom part to leave only the neck and head with only smooth water behind...but that a subjective thing :)
Anyway, great work, mate!

Bravo and TFS
Horia

PS: By the way, is Necip still interested in joining us in Poland?

hi Joe,
very nice shot, i like green eye in the blue BG. Great details.

hello Joe
this is one splendid close-up
marvellously photo
I wish you come in the lake Kerkini in Greece(a splendid water biotope with thousands cormorants carbo and pygmeus)
best regards
