Another one of the Richmond stags. This was taken at the same time as the last two stag shots. I came across a whole group of stags. A few months ago they were fighting and now they are hanging out together.

Antlers from Wikipedia
Antlers are the large and complex horn-like appendages of male deer and of both sexes of other related species such as caribou. They consist of bony outgrowths from the head with no covering of keratin as is found in true horns. Each antler grows from an attachment point on the skull called a pedicle. While an antler is growing it is covered with highly vascular skin called velvet, which supplies oxygen and nutrients to the growing bone; once the antler has achieved its proper size, the velvet is lost and the antler's bone dies. This dead bone structure is the mature antler. Antlers shed after each mating season.

----------------------------------------------------
The Red Deer usually lose their antlers in March or April

Eight tags are quite impressive, I'm also impressed by how he stands out in the frame!
Effective DOF creates this fine feeling of depth, and the framing is well done...

Como siempre, una bella captura. Buenos detalles, en especial el ojo. Quizá todo el primer plano virado mucho al rojo, pero no lo se.

Hi Karan

Ahh yes...a true royal :) I still remember the nice note on the categories from your last post...even before reading the title here i counted the tips :)
So, another very beautiful shot of a stag, one with a gorgeous frontal light to the subject that brings out the very nice almost hidden features of the subject. I really like the small shadows it creates behind each curve of the head and body...
The details are again (needless to say) terrific and the natural colors are just superb! Very nice parallel POV and nice complementary BG, too.
Overall: wonderful work!

Bravo and TFS

Hi Karan.
Once more picture of amazing stag at very nice scenery. Superb warm colours, extreme sharpness and details of the animal and FG. I am impressed with the similarity of their colour pattern. I also and again like impressive BG. Level of its blurriness is precise. It seem to me cropping (framing) on the left side is strong a little bit. Well done and kind regards.
Alexei.
