You've done a great job here and given us a strangely lit shot with lots of atmosphere. Experimenting with shots like this is always fun I would love to get some shots like this. I like the band of colour running across the middle and movement in the receding water.

Karan, this is a really artistic shot. Could almost be a modern abtract painting , wouln't be the more naturalistic elements in the front and the sun. Great and original shot.

I really like the sky in this photo. It has such an ominous feeling to it. The texture and color of the cloud and the pale sun make it look eerie. The stripe of warm color along the horizon seperate the clouds and sea perfectly. You got FG interest, there are some pebbles and the white lens created by the surf do lead me into the photo. I like it.

I wasn't aware of those rules except for the one about the interesting foreground, which you do have here. Photography is not exactly science, and by exercising artistic freedom, you have captured a beautiful scene that contains so many elements of interest. Well done.

Yes, you have broken some rules here, but it seems to work in this picture. Very calm atmosphere - even with the dark cloudes. The mix of colours look great and contribute to the feeling in this picture in a very nice way.

Hi Karan

You have shot down your own photo by highligting all the possible nits - correctly or incorrctly. So, this left me with the pleasure in saying that the rest is quite beautiful.

The slow shutter speed created interesting effects in the water and compositionally it is well divided into 1/5 horizontal zones. The xcellent details are well defined, the colours are great, and the exposure was spot on.

Hi Karan,
The rules (and oh yes, those are written, too) can be broken on the altar of art. It will be difficult to add more drama in a photo without bloodshed. The Sun, black cloud, orange horizon, climbing wave, the foam and the vertical framing make a spectacular photo.

i know the feeling, getting a soaking from rogue waves seems to be a hobby of mine too!
Intriguing shot, for some reason i can't quite find any focal point to settle on. I like the sheer moodiness of it all, and the strip of colour across the middle is nice too. Would make the basis for a nice abstract painting!

Hello Karan,
perfect title for a piece of seascape photography that is so unique that is keeps me attracted for a long time - not only as an unsolved puzzle why this image works so well.
The image shows depth, mystery, and vibrant vitality. The vertical framing has already turned the landscape into an abstract composition. The heavy sky is very well counterbalanced by sea and shore. The motion blur on waves repeats the blur of clouds covering the sun. The unique combination of dark grey and sulphuric yellow is repeated in the pebbles. The sharpness of pebbles and distant horizon keep the image stabilized like a stage for all the rest in heavy motion.
Great artistic work always puts rules into question.

Indeed a very stormy scene...quite unconvensional...but it looks great!
I really like the small orage line on the horizon - it brightens up the shot nicely - and the mood is also excellent.
I might contradinct you on the FG - i think that the little stones from the beach give good attention to this segment :)
The shutter creates a very good effect on the water, too...so, as a conclusion: i LIKE it! :)

Great shot. Yes,... it breaks a lot of rules,... I wud have liked it even more if there were some leading lines or some interesting thing in the fg to focus the eyes on,... but even then, this dynamic scene with different colours and stormy sea, with the sun behind the clouds, look awsum. Beautiful shot.
