[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A very simple picture today just taken at my local park. I just took the camera out this morning as I am trying to learn how to use it. I have just got a Canon EOS 350D. I don't get my zoom lens until Christmas so I can't do much in the way of wildlife shots yet but I do have a Canon EFS 17-85mm IS USM lens. It was about 8.00 this morning when I took this and the leaves were backlit by the low sun.

Why autumn leaves change colour by the science made simple webside:
Leaves are nature's food factories. Plants take water from the ground through their roots. They take a gas called carbon dioxide from the air. Plants use sunlight to turn water and carbon dioxide into glucose. Glucose is a kind of sugar. Plants use glucose as food for energy and as a building block for growing. The way plants turn water and carbon dioxide into sugar is called photosynthesis. That means "putting together with light." A chemical called chlorophyll helps make photosynthesis happen. Chlorophyll is what gives plants their green color.

As summer ends and autumn comes, the days get shorter and shorter. This is how the trees "know" to begin getting ready for winter.

During winter, there is not enough light or water for photosynthesis. The trees will rest, and live off the food they stored during the summer. They begin to shut down their food-making factories. The green chlorophyll disappears from the leaves. As the bright green fades away, we begin to see yellow and orange colors. Small amounts of these colors have been in the leaves all along. We just can't see them in the summer, because they are covered up by the green chlorophyll.

The bright reds and purples we see in leaves are made mostly in the fall. In some trees, like maples, glucose is trapped in the leaves after photosynthesis stops. Sunlight and the cool nights of autumn cause the leaves turn this glucose into a red color. The brown color of trees like oaks is made from wastes left in the leaves.

What an artistic shot you have shared. Delicate autumn colour palette, amazing lighting and combination of lights and darks, perfect reproduction leaf texture and water drops. Foreground and BG both look very nice. My compliments and TFS.

My only nit, cloning or burning the white which distract the eye from this beauty will increase the overall look to the image. Beautiful work.

Wonderful leaf detail, made dramtic by the light. Tke light dew makes it even more interesting. Well composed, too.

Nice autumn shot, interesting details, great POV and vivid colours, good focus!

This is a lovely image Karan. I like it a lot. There are great values, sharpness and color saturatiaon.
The composition with that striking light is really nice. I'm often impressed by the images taken with the Rebel.

Hello Karan,
We have this same lens 17-85mm and it does nice macro like this one. This is so sharp and detailed. Those colors are very nice with excellent saturation and I like this lightning a lot. Nice droplets, composition and DOF. You must been waiting for Christmas so bad; it is coming!!! Very well done and TFS,

Hi Karan, nice idea. I love the colours and the light is nice too. The water droplets are a very nice touch. Well done.

a great first camera using shot..so clear and with a wealth of tone which deepens and enhances
the water is always a winner and you have used it to advantage
the solitary leaf is more interesting as some i took recently of a bunch..you dont know which one to look at...
