Hello Karan,
this is a suprisingly colourful fungi.
Very good photo.
+++ I like the low-down POV and the off-centre composition. Great sharpness and detail. Excellent colours and lighting.
--- DOF a bit too shallow... something like f/8 probably would have worked better. Otherwise a perfect shot.
Well done,
Joe

Hi Karan,
A wonderful shot of this very colorful fungus. The colors are wonderful. The only fungi I have seen here are brown, all dried up looking and ugly. Good details on this and it shows off nicely against your background.

Hi Karen,
What a great pov you had on this mushroom, I almost am expecting to see a little elf poke his head around it! Great sharp details and natural colors. GREAT shot. TFS

Hi Karan,
A nice shot on this fungi. Soft shadowless light and a spot on exposure. Colors and intricate detail are well shown here. This one has really amazing textures in it.

Hi Karen,
lovely detail and a good job on the exposure too. Your low POV is very good too, i bet you got muddy knees :o)

Hi Karan
A rather atypical subject for you but a beautiful picture none the less.
It's nice to see you use that lens again! I must admit i still crave for it...but one day i will have my own. Until then, i must get used to my camera first :)
Back to this lovely macros (this and the WS one) i really like their attention to detail and texture of the subject presented.
The colors here really evoke fall and you did great not to concentrate all the attention only on the mushrooms. The composition you created here is impeccable - with the subject carefully positioned atexactly1/3 of the frame.
There is only one nit i could really pick one - the DOF - which in my opinion could be just a very little bit bigger. But that's just me...
Anyway, Bravo and TFS
Horia
PS: there is a question i've been dieing to ask for ages and i finally decided to go for it: i've seen people calling you Karen, but in your intro, your first name is Karan. Which one is it? :)

Hi Karan,
this is a very good macro photo, congratulations.
About ID, to be exact, your photo shows a variety of Amanita muscaria (Linneo 1753) Lamark 1783, not the typical species, because it has yellow veil instead of white, as you can well see in the photo; its name is Amanita muscaria var. formosa Persoon 1800.
Others features are the same.

Hi Karan,
So its not only me that finds the Fly Agarics in poor conditions this year. I've have yet to find one that is in perfect shape and condition. I am still trying to figure out why there aren't any this year.
I like the entire setting of this photo. It feels as if the fungi is isolated from everything else. I do agree with Joe about the DOF, it could use a smaller aperture.
TFS,
Niek
