Hi Karan

Your 'simple picture' turned out to be quite something. This is an excellent shot of a juvenile mute swan. I especially like the facial details you managed to capture, complete with a little catch-light in the eye. It looks like you enjoyed the lovely soft light of a late afternoon sun which made the colours come alive. I am just not sure that your camera clock is set correctly as it reports the time of capture at 23:05. Talk about midnight sun?

Anyway, the composition is fine, great colours (as mentioned), and nice sharp details, Although the BG is not completely OOF, it is not disturbing and actually lends to enhance the bird, and the exposure was spot on.

Superb portrait shot, excellent composition and I love the pose, as its clear he/she has one eye on you, nice details with the water beads on the cygnets head, I also like the afternoon lighting and the autumn tones reflected on the water.

Hi Karan.
The high saturated colours, and crisp clear details have turned this young swan into a very photogenic subject.
Besides this factors I think that your POV, with the head contour contrasting with the darker part of the BG is very effective. I did not spect all this from the thumb...

Hi Karan

This is simply superb!!!
The POV and DOF are GREAT and very well chosen. Due to these, the swan is in a perfect warm beam of light and the BG (very beautifully blurred) goes very well with the subject, being especially dark exactly where it should be - at the head's level.
Also the focus is spot-on, the details are fantasticly sharp and the colors are lovely.

Hi Karen,

I really like the theme of a petulant adolescent, i've seen these youngsters acting just as belligerantly as you described! I like the composition, the details (beads of water are great) and his markings are well shown too. I also like the dark patch behind his head which only serves to compliment the light falling on his face.

in this shot he does not look aggressive at all, but sure is watching you from the corner of his eye. The portrait is beautiful, very nice lighting and the colors and details are wonderful. Like the composition with this great POV.
