This is obviously not a wild bird, this is another of the shots I took a few weeks ago at the local Craft Fair. A bird sanctuary were there raising funds. They take in injured birds and also birds that were raised in captivity but no longer wanted.

This is an Eagle Owl but I'm not sure which one. I have posed an Eurasian Eagle Owl on TrekLens but there seem to be many different types of Eurasian Eagle Owls let alone different types of Eagle Owl:

B.b.bubo N & C Europe
B.b.hispanus Iberian Peninsula
B.b.ruthenus Russia from Moscow east to Urals
B.b.interpositus Ukraine south to Syria
B.b.sibericus W Siberia from Urals to River Ob
B.b.yenisseensis C Siberia from Ob to Lake Baikal
B.b.jakutensis NE Siberia from Lake Baikal to Pacific
B.b.ussuriensis SE Siberia to N China
B.b.turcomanus From Volga through Kazakhstan to W Mongolia
B.b.omissus Turkey
B.b.nikolskii S & C Iran to Pakistan
B.b.hemachalana Himalayas, Tien Shan, Pamirs, Tibet
B.b.kiautschensis China & Korea
B.b.swinhoei SE China

A good source of info on Owl is www.owls.org

Hi Karen,

I don't think i've ever seen such a stern expression on an animals face! Great details as usual, with a nice pose. I'm curious how you got such a great uncluttered background at a craft fair?

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Karan,
Beats me on the name of the owl, but it is a beautiful one. You've captured a beautiful pose, showing a stunning character. The lifting of th eyebrow is funny. Great colors and sharpness with perfect brightness in the eyes. Personally I rather see a more natural BG. But, you couldn't help it and with the DOF, you made it good.
TFS,
Niek

Hello Karan,
I like very much your portrait of this owl.
A clean one, well exposed and focused, appropiate POV.
Their look is so intense and penetrating.
Good feather texture.
Congratulations and thanks for share,
JM

What a terrific pose! This owl looks so funny here with its "eyebrow" raised :)...it almost reminds me of Jim Carrey :))
Impeccable timing and POV, charming colors and very vine razor sharp details.
GREAT work!

Bravo and TFS

bonjour karan
laurent

Hi Karan.
BRAVO for this amazing portrait which is executed with great skillfulness. Colour palette is wonderful: delicate and impressive. Outstanding pose of your photo model,
crisp sharpness and perfect details. Excellent cropping and lighting. Perfect done. My compliments and TFS.
Alexei.

Very clear photo -- the eyes are piercing! The bands on the leg have a really strange effect on me. I know that the owl flies but those bands plus the perch work against the freedom of the subject. It is a very effective portrait.

Hi Karan, terrific shot, perfect focus and DOF, great pose!!!
Merry X'mas, Luís.

Hello Karan,
A strong glance from this mpressive bird!
Close-up work is well done, feather coat looks natural and with fine colours and details...
I will never enjoy seeing those guys tied up but I guess the purpose here is good...
Greetings,
Pablo -

My first reaction was to ask you to not tell this UHU abt. my lil squirrels! Then I read the Note, and smiled!!!

I felt less "owly", and started to admire the sharp detail!
The leather straps remind me of those the falkeniers in Arabia use.

Well done! Jay

Hi Karan,

I like this picture very much. You caught it in a superb pose. It's eyes remind me of an irritated cat at night. Well done.

Jan-Hendrik

this one is very nice!
great quality and i love this bird

Hello Karan! What an expression on this fellow's face! He's trying to look so sternly at you, but that cocked "ear" just makes me laugh. Marvellous colour and feather detail--great earth tones. Great POV. Well done! Thank you, Linda
