[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This little fellow is the cheekiest robin I have ever met. He visits a bench in Arundel when you produce food. I took some mealworms on my walk to encourage him out of the trees. Sadly the light was so bad that I had to use the flash which was a bit too bright but I thought I would post him anyway

The title comes from a childrens nursery rhyme:

"Who killed Cock Robin?" "I," said the Sparrow,
"With my bow and arrow, I killed Cock Robin."
"Who saw him die?" "I," said the Fly,
"With my little eye, I saw him die."
"Who caught his blood?" "I," said the Fish,
"With my little dish, I caught his blood."
"Who'll make the shroud?" "I," said the Beetle,
"With my thread and needle, I'll make the shroud."
"Who'll dig his grave?" "I," said the Owl,
"With my pick and shovel, I'll dig his grave."
"Who'll be the parson?" "I," said the Rook,
"With my little book, I'll be the parson."
"Who'll be the clerk?" "I," said the Lark,
"If it's not in the dark, I'll be the clerk."
"Who'll carry the link?" "I," said the Linnet,
"I'll fetch it in a minute, I'll carry the link."
"Who'll be chief mourner?" "I," said the Dove,
"I mourn for my love, I'll be chief mourner."
"Who'll carry the coffin?" "I," said the Kite,
"If it's not through the night, I'll carry the coffin."
"Who'll bear the pall? "We," said the Wren,
"Both the cock and the hen, we'll bear the pall."
"Who'll sing a psalm?" "I," said the Thrush,
"As she sat on a bush, I'll sing a psalm."
"Who'll toll the bell?" "I," said the bull,
"Because I can pull, I'll toll the bell."
All the birds of the air fell a-sighing and a-sobbing,
When they heard the bell toll for poor Cock Robin".

A sad tale but my Robin was alive and well (and full of food)

Hello Karan,
Nice portrait of this popular Christmasy bird.
The flash has helped you to do a good job in this sharp and well-composed presentation.
TFS, regards, Ivan

hello
vraiment tres beau cet oiseau, les couleurs sont parfaitement nettes sur un bon BG,
bon travail et merci
edith

Oh,he is very cute and handsome…
I had never seen any European Robin yet,but a lot of other robins as the Siberian rubythroat.
And I wonder in the Nursely rhyme, The word”bull” was a real bull or it means a bullfinch? I think it is the bird, but a bullfinch maybe not strong enough to toll the bell. I am so puzzled. Can there anybody help me?thanks:)

it's a fine shot Karan,
good pov and very good details, the quality of the photo is very good, great light in it, very good job. I wish you and your family a good and happy new Year

Hi Karan,
I have to admit that the European Robins are far cuter than the American Robins. You did well for having to use your flash at this close distance. Just some OE in the whites of the plumage, but the rest is perfect. Beautiful colors and sharp detail. Well isolated from the nice soft OOF backround. Great catchlight in the eye really makes him look great.
Scott

Hi Karan,
May be cheeky or not, but in any case you've got a very good approach, pose and blurred background.
TFS, José M.
PS. The nursery rhyme is very useful for english learner!

Thanks for posting that poem,I had not heard that for so many years. My dad used to recite that to me when I was really small. He is from Hants.A lovely shot of the robin, good POV and DOF,the details are sharp. The UK robins are so cute, not like our Turdus migratorius over here.TFS

Rob

Hello Karan,
You really must be happy with your new toy! Look at this, this is very close! I don't think that the flash made this picture too bright... Details and colors are really good. I love the POV, pose of the bird and composition. Well done with cute notes :-)
