Hello my Friends!
Last 4 weeks I was not in Lodz, but finally I'm back :> I hope that soon I'll be able to present you some of photos taken by me during last month. And today the first one :>

This is Spanish Festoon (Zerynthia rumina) (Lepidoptera: Papilionidae), one of two species of this genus known from Europe.

Distribution: in NW Africa and SW Europe only.

Flight period: usually late March-May

Habitat: hot and dry rocky places, usually below 1600m asl.

Caterpillar plants: differents species of Aristolochia

Picture was taken in the Upper Rock Nature Reserve", Gibraltar. What is really interesting, in this rather small area (only 1 mountain!) 46 species of day-active Lepidoptera were noted till now :>

As always thank you in advance for your time, visits and comments! :>

Hello Radek,
Nice capture with a fine title!
The POV, sharpness and lighting are great to present a fine portrait of this fresh specimen of Z. rumina well composed on the Valeriana flower.
45 species of butterfly is amazing for such a small area: they must like the Barbary Apes :)).
Thanks and all the best. When are you coming to Sweden?

Hello Radomir,
Thank you so much for your kind comment on my return!! You won't see me here every day but I miss my friends here and will certainly keep in touch. I think your breaks away are healthy and it's always good to see you back!
This is a wonderful capture of the Spanish Festoon that I've only seen briefly once and I'd love to see it again but your image will stay with me for quite a while! It is very sharp showing fine details and colours. I love the light and its position on the pretty flower too. Well done!
TFS and all the best wishes, Ulla

Hello Radomir
excellent beauty. great sharp macro-shot. POV/DOF, coloration and exposure wonderful. thanks for sharing.
In October 2007, I went to Gibraltar, when I was in break of IUCN meeting in Malaga. Unfortunately I must to came back from the English custom. they said me green passport and Schengen visa not important. I saw that almost all people, except for only Turkish and Arabic people, could visit there with only identify card. I hope I will go again to there in future.
Best wishes my friend, have a nice week.
