Another to the tree collection...

Taken on Christmas Day, these 2 trees, covered in a very heavy hoar frost, where nominated by my husband as our Christmas Tree on a hike on Christmas Day. Temperatures that day never reached -5C, and was fantastic hiking.

Taken on route to Loch Dochard, the picture was taken directly into sunlight, but that is a mountain in the background. I have editted the picture a little, lowering the brightness levels and sharpening it after a crop and resize. Nothing else has happened, and yes, it was taken in colour...

Nature showing its better side in winter....

Oh - I forgot to explain why they were nominated as our Christmas Trees, - we were camping (tent) in Glencoe over Christmas and New Year, so had no tree and decorations...

Edit - I've added a workshop with the picture converted to B&W to see what the difference would be, but I think I prefer the orginal - what do you think?

It must have been freezing to take this pic! A lovely and very artistic pic you have here indeed. The composition and POv are superb. TFS,

Hi Emma

Lovely shot. It is hard to believe it is a colour image. Nicely composed and well seen. Thanks.

Hi Emma, what a graceful shot, I love these trees, and yes, I'd like one like this for Christmas too - but not the cold! Lovely composition, well done,

Hi Emma, good light and constrast. The BW effect afterward is a good choice, even if the 350D can shoot in BW directly ;-)

Hello Emma,
very nice frosty picture. I like it very much. Great sharpness, lighting and POV. This is a great composition. Thank you. Have a great weekend.

They look great together and nicely coloured in ... black and white.
Very good ilumination effect.

Regards, Petru

Hi Emma,
This is great, you obviously know your B&W. I think B&W only works where there are a lot of tonal contrasts and this works perfectly. Really nice simple composition and excellent detail.
Really nice shot.

Emma, I like this one ... I have been looking through your photos ... you have an eye for composition.

Living in Alaska as a youth, I have seen the Hoar frost ... wonderful affect ... TFS
