Hey guys,

Can I firstly say thank you so much for the critiques I received on the King Vulture I posted yesterday, was feeling a bit rubbish and all those comments really perked me up!

This shot is from the Isabella Plantation in the park which hosts a rich variety of plants. The small birds seem to prefer it here, I'll definitely be going back for another visit.

This chap was chirping away with his beautiful song and allowed me a few shots before he moved to higher elevations.

PP: Crop, sharpen, frame is all.

I'm off to watch the Barbarians play rugby now so my critiques will all come come tomorrow as I have the day off :)

Regards
Simon

Hello Simon,
A nice shot of this Robin, very well managed exposure and great colours (I like the D200's colour rendition a lot). Nicely framed, good detail and good DOF, if I were nit-picking I would mention the oof twig at the bottom of the frame but that really would be nit-picking so I won't :-)
Cheers,
Adrian

BTW by tradition if you are going to watch the BaBas you should be in no condition to write critiques tomorrow ;-)

Excellent Photo Simon - really like it!!

Only negative thing I can say is that it looks a touch orange but that may be due to the light.

TFS!

Sandy

Hi Simon.
My congratulations. Perfect done "action" shot. Amazing pictured moment and wonderful scenery. Great DOF, not larger, not shallower. Composition, delicate lighting, fine colours – all is excellent. My compliments and best wishes.

Hi again Simon

Nice to hear you are feeling better :) Have fun at the rugby match ;)
This is indeed a splendid capture and if it's really that great as it sounds, it's definitely worht going back to this place.
The pose in which you've captured this one is absolutely fantastic [shouting from the bottom of his lungs probably :)) ]. The details are very neat and sharp, the colors are lovely and well saturated and the composition is charming.

Bravo and TFS

Simon, that is just perfect. A really lovely shot. Superb timing and pin sharp. Great light and colours. Lovely POV. I have yet to make it as far as the Isabella Plantation. I usually get as far as the deer and then end up watching them :)

Hello Simon!
I read your intro and I can tell you that we have the same experiences in the childhood and now. I am also returning to this nice toy after some years away from it! Well, I am a little bit more addicted to TE comparing to TN..
I found your gallery here and it is beautiful!
This post is full of action, light, colour and the sharpness is amazing. Excellent work!
Regards from Brazil!

Hi Simon,
I can hear it sing all the way to Sweden, a really Caruso ;-)
Nice colours and light, well comnposed abd fine details,
Well done.

Hello Simon,

Excellent capture my friend! This cute guy is singing like an opera singer!
The composition of your shot is very dynamic with a robin that is doing something, not just sitting there. Good idea to leave the big empty space in the right side since the robin's music has to go somewhere! :) The branch crossing the picture along the lower third offers excellent support for your subject. The subject is well isolated from the background!
Outstanding treatment of the light! Although the shadow of some branch is exactly on the Robin's face, you managed to minimize its negative effects. I don't know whether you used fill flash or not but I have to say that the shadows are soft and not an issue. Even inside the mouth there are great details visible. Very well done here!
I love the way you captured the translucence in the bird's delicate legs and the great catchlights in the eyes. Outstanding job with useful notes! Thank you!

With Friendly Regards,
Eddie
